Diesel Cayenne and VW emission issue

This has been dragging on for so long that I don't remember what it said except that my VIN was registered. There are so many variations of payouts, time frames, and deadlines that the court docs have to be read to determine any course of action than relying on a post.

Well this is promising isn't it? Hope doesn't foretell the fate of the 3.0L VW Diesel models. Good luck to you guys...when time for me to purchase a nicely used SUV for a pending move to a more wintery climate..I chose to go with a Range Rover Sport instead...wifey still loves her Cayenne v6 tho!

This article has absolutely nothing to do with US vehicles - EPA and CARB did not agree to any fixes which VW proposed for the EA189 ( 4 cylinder TDI engines). Therefore - VW had to offer to buy them all back at a very inflated value. The V6 engines have yet to have the "fix" approved - and we'll leave the "why not?" to the imagination and wild conjecture or those who love or hate VW.

Was at a reveal event last night (for the new Panny - absolutely beautiful car!!) and spoke with very, very well connected in the Porsche world. He said there will be a fix. It's already being tested on the 100,000 mile cycle and so far, if there is any reduction in accelleration/performance, it's not noticeable and mpgs also aren't impacted in any noticeable amount.
Promising news (at least for those who want to keep their Cayennes and have them run as they do now).

^^^ sounds like the fix is similar to the 2.0L AdBlue cars then. Which is good news!
NOW... if they start discounting the bejeebers out of the unsold Cayennes like VW seems to be for the 4cyl cars... hot damn count me in for a trade-in lol. One local dealer here has *18* they've been sitting on.
I love my current '14 CD but if it's discounted enough I'd consider a trade for a "new" "used" 2016.
Anybody know if the 100k warranty extension applies to the currently unsold vehicles? Or was that only for cars that were already out in the wild?

Remember the "fix" for 2.1 includes new hardware (presumably what 2.2 already has). That plus plain laziness, I think. The cheating software was already around from Gen 1 maybe? I bet the thinking was since they haven't been caught, just add onto the original software. Kind of how computer companies operate, no?

I would think in hindsight that the "cost" back then would have been a rounding error compared to what they are facing today.
