Promising news (at least for those who want to keep their Cayennes and have them run as they do now).
That's good to hear. I have always thought the "compliant repair" would have to be good or Porsche would offer the buy back option just to make this thing go away.

Interesting info. regarding the newly available for sale 2.0 "fixed" VW cars:

"The emissions modification will change the way your car's engine and emissions control systems interact. This will affect technical functions under some operating conditions, for example when the vehicle is started for the day."

Reminds me of the good old days when you had to wait for the glow plug to finish heating?

It comes from the Detroit News article (www.detroitnews.com) under the autos section, titled VW sweetens the deal for unsold U.S. diesels. For some strange reason I cannot set the link to that article dated May 5th.

^^^ They (VAG et al) should include a copy with (in addition to) our settlement proceeds.

^^^^ In principle you should be ok even if the previous owner registered first since the current owner has the vehicle and the initial payment is only made once you come in for the approved compliant emissions repair etc etc. But I would call the PSC/settlement hotline and talk to someone there about the exact situation and probably also send an email so I have a record. This may be a common factor as previous owners have an expiring clock to get into the system so they can get compensated as a previous owner (assuming they meet the test as outlined in the settlement agreement).

If I recall correctly from the 2.0L case, current owners are required to present appropriate ownership documentation (title, lien, etc). Perhaps we hear more details on the procedure tomorrow - but if we do
I suspect they will still be of a general nature with specifics to follow.

Also saw on the news feed last night where MB pulled their request for diesel certification for 2017 vehicles. They were likewise uncertain if they would sell diesels back into the US market in the future - guess it depends on their alleged defeat device case as well.

Exactly, I am the second owner. I would love to know if owner one also made a claim by the May 1 deadline.

Me too. But I guess we will have to patient with this found money. Splitting it or not will be a surprise.

I think you register by VIN number. It is my understanding that if you were allowed to register, the prior owner did not. Is my thinking faulty?

I am second owner to my car and I was able to register in Feb. When I went back to the site in April and entered the VIN again, it said that the car was already registered. With that said, it seems some people have received letter from the settlement but I have not received anything.
