This thread is already 165 pages long. Just a question (I am sure the answer is somewhere in the thread), what happens if there is a fix but you don't take it in for the fix?

Does that mean that if there are enough owners who do not take it in, then VW can't achieve the 85% fix rate. That means VW will keep paying $$$$$$$ to the regulators, right?

Maybe that is the only way out. Just do nothing

You are correct to a point, but until 9/15 the CD was indeed depreciating slower than the other models. This fits the pattern of diesels in general up to that point.

Once the news broke it quickly caught up with the Base and S depreciation curves.

If our CDs are chronically out of emissions compliance, at which point do our States step in and deny registration.

That will greatly depend on how your specific state handles it. There is already a national recall database specifically for tracking this sort of thing (set up in the 70s or 80s).

For normal recalls it varies from state to state on if they enforce the recall and they do this by refusing registration if it isn't shown in the database as being fixed. California is a given that they will require it no mater what.

For the rest of the country, it will depend on many things but I think the biggest will be when/if a fix is available. The longer it takes, the more it falls off the radar, and the less people will care/remember. So dragging out can actually help us there.

For my part, once a fix is available, it will never see the inside of a Porsche dealer again. I'll drive it until I can't register it.

I'd bet you would have a tough time getting warranty work done without allowing them to "fix" your car. They would likely insist on it for maintenance work too.

Yes, but there really is no way to prove that given the release of the .2 models, the next gen that this wouldn't happen anyway... !!!

Is it possible to download the current ECU map, and upload it again as needed?

From the latest consent decree, as I expected the values of the 3.0 will be based on the NADA November 2015.

I.
CALCULATION OF RETAIL REPLACEMENT VALUE

1.1
Retail Replacement Value Components. For all 3.0 Liter Eligible Vehicles, and only for purposes of satisfying Defendants’ obligations under this Consent Decree, Retail Replacement Value shall be defined as equal to the sum of the following three components:

(1) Vehicle Value, as described below;
(2) State and Local Taxes Payment; and
(3) Associated Owner Expenses.
Each of the three components shall be calculated in accordance with paragraphs 1.2-1.4 below.

1.2
Vehicle Value.
The Vehicle Value for a given Eligible Vehicle shall equal the vehicle’s Base Value adjusted for OEM - installed NADA Options and NADA Mileage, as
described below.

1.2.1
Base Value. Base Value shall be calculated as follows:

1.2.1.1
The Base Value for each Eligible Vehicle is, where available (including both Model Year (“MY”) vehicles before 2015 and certain MY 2015 vehicles), the Clean Retail value of the vehicle based on the NADA Vehicle Identification Code (VIC) for each Eligible Vehicle in the November 2015 NADA Used Car Guide (“NADA Guide”) published in or around October 2015.

1.2.1.2
For MY 2015 Eligible Vehicles for which no value was published in the NADA Guide as of November 2015 (MY 2015 Porsche Cayenne; Audi Q5 Premium Plus, Q5 Prestige, Q5 Prestige S; Volkswagen Touareg Executive, Touareg Lux, and Touareg Sport Technology), the Base Value shall be equal to 75.856% of MSRP for the Eligible Vehicle. This figure is derived by multiplying the MSRP for each individual vehicle by the average ratio of November 2015 Clean Retail values to average MSRPs for MY 2015 vehicles for which values were available (MY 2015 Audi A6 Premium Plus and A6 Prestige, A7 Premium Plus and A7 Prestige, A8, and Q5 Premium Plus).

Given enough time and money, yes. I didn't buy a Porsche to undertake an R&D program though.

Looks like the deadline for the software fix will be in 4 to 6 months.

Me too, how does Michelin Latitude Tour HP sound? I hate the original tires by Good Year, @25K the fronts are already falling apart.

Well that is just ****. Values had already taken a dive as part of the halo effect of the 2.0 scandal.

don't know. I have 22s and run Toyo Proxes ST, I think. Had them on our previous Cayenne for about 25000 miles and now have the same tires on a different set of wheels on our current CD and it has 30000 miles on it, so between the 2 vehicles we have gotten over 55,000 miles on the one set.
