here we go. It's an older Piwis2 screenshot, but basically the same. Can be found under Maintenance & Repair / Activations (I know you can do the translation yourself easily .. LoL..)..
There's 2 functions in the steering wheel where you need an activation code: Heated Steering Wheel and Cruise Control.
At least for heated steering wheel you cannot buy it at the dealer, Porsche simply does not sell this, so the only way is the grey market for this code.
This is from a former retrofit of a heated steering wheel.
You can find a couple of functions apart from steering wheel under PCM. They vary depending if it is a PCM 3.1, PCM 4 etc. Some of it can be bought at the dealer (like CarPlay), some not (like different Region conversion in PCM4, Android Auto), so there's more than 1 way in some cases.

I'd never come across this. I doubt though that selecting a color for the tach and sport chrono requires such a code, so I was hoping there'd be a way to change the wavelength. If indeed there isn't, then it proves why at least on the 2020 Macan, the red tach looks washed out pink. They just shine a white LED onto a red face plate.
the only ECUs where I came across these activation codes so far were in steering wheel and PCM. No codes in dash cluster yet - but this might be different in recent model years (e.g. Taycan surely has tons of functions which will need some kind of activation/certificate to be enabled, most likely with online/OTA distribution)
BTW are these codes VIN dependent? Meaning if you get or decipher a code I couldn't use it on my car due to different VIN numbers, or is it just one code activates?
in recent times I have become familiar with the piwis2 and some retrofits on my cayenne 958 with pcm 4.0. I managed to retrofit the stopwatch with function in the instrument cluster, then I installed LED headlights and added PDLS plus function, and finally I coded the speed limit info.

Now I have seen that there is the possibility to change the background of the menu with icons ... does anyone know the value to change in pcm 4.0?
Out of interest, what enables the speed limit info?

windshield camera is required. Replaced 9Q0 with 9Q6 in vehicle order and then code kombi instrument, front camera, bcm front, headunit pcm and gateway.
i think there is no option only for front camera.
i am a little confused …. there is options for park assist only , for park assist + rear view camera , rear view camera only and park assist + surround view.
look images:
Now i have rear and front camera but not original…. Is connected to china ecu camera adapter…but i am not satisfied….
my next project is original surround view … stay tuned
