I have developed quite a crush on that car! If I was in the market for a 997 Turbo, this is probably the car I'd spend whatever it took (if I had it to give, anyway) to make it mine.
Same here! What a gorgeous build. I think they were asking $130ish when it was listed on their site. Hopefully it will do well at the auction.
reserve not met at $107k. i was curious how high the reserve was, i definitely felt the ending price was way too low. i guess the market has spoken though. tough time to sell a 997.1 turbo it seems - even one as spec'd out as this.

Pretty interesting...it went right to Deal Tank at $130k...then someone made a post about that probably reflecting what anyone interested in the car was thinking - they had the car listed for $129k, and now add $5k in fees? That post and the Deal Tank listing has since been removed.
I had inquired on taking my trade (ironically enough listed straight to Deal Tank on Pcarmarket https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/2001-bmw-z3m/ ) on the car and spoke with a sales person last week...maybe they will consider it now?

That dealer that it was at has insanely high pricing on anything in their showroom. I believe they mostly consign cars, but there's an 09 with an accident that they're asking 125k for lol

Let em sell it! It'll only help our cars appreciate sooner than later.

Almost as bad as a certain dealer on Long Island....
Was reading the WSJ and they have an interesting article on BaT and why it’s been so successful. Sales went from $248m on the platform in 2019 to over $1b in 2022. Didn’t know it was owned by Hearst Magazines (owner of road & track, car and driver mag, etc). Hopefully you can access it - might require a subscription…

I attempted to list my 997.2 turbo on BaT but they insisted I set the reserve at $84k. I ended up listing it on a Facebook group and it sold for $110k after a few days.

Every time I tried to list a car on BAT, the reserve was set to lower than what I was offered at dealers.. And the two times I was interested in listing, I sold for more than their reserve before it was my turn to go up for auction lol
Doug Demuro has stated on his YouTube channel that analysis of auctions on Cars & Bids (which he owns) shows that no reserve listings almost always do better than reserve listings. Take that for what it is worth.
Not surprising BaT is cracking down on reserve pricing. Everyone wants to think their car is still worth peak pandemic prices and the reality is that's not where the market is anymore.
One thing that is interesting to me is that online auction volume is way down. Once prices started falling for the 997.1 TT 6-speed coupes, people started pulling back from selling. We are seeing more like 1 a week or every few weeks, vs. 2-3 a week at the same time during peak market. I feel like pricing took a dip there for a bit but the last few have had a pretty strong showing.
Those last three are driver-ish range mile cars rather than just show piece garage queens yet still pulling close to 6 figures, which isn't bad.
The fact that 997tt prices are damn near identical to 991.1tt prices is a positive sign in my book. Despite the market "softening" 997tt are doing great I'd say and trending upwards as more people are seeing the value in these cars, last manual, Mezger etc.

Yeah, I think we need to be realistic here. The only people who are upset that a little air has been let out of the 997tt market are people who bought at the height of pandemic buying frenzy. I bought my car in December 2020, in the pandemic. The car had 18k miles and was less expensive than all of the cars on the list above. So these cars, IMO, are still priced pretty strongly vs early/ pre-pandemic prices.
