$93.5k

this is two in a row very well optioned cars with $150k+ sticker price, PCCBs, sub 50k miles that failed to clear six figures. both silver. the other one had a minor carfax blemish but this one, i don't have any nitpicks. buyer got a good deal, from a comp perspective over the last 3 months. i am sure the sky is falling / market is cooling crowd are going to be chiming in here soon.

That car has simply too many miles to have a big sale price. 48k miles is basically 50k miles. Take this same car and now imagine it had 12k miles. You still think it would sell for $93.5k? Most of the 997.1 cars that sold for $110k and up on BAT had <20k miles. There's a reason why people have garage queens---people will pay big money to buy the freshest version of a car they can find. To help support my point we have this ultra-low mileage car that sold for what I consider stupid money in early May (and it appears way less well equipped than the car you're talking about): https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...urbo-coupe-11/

Of course there's also the wild card of who's in the room on that day. And to be honest, there's lots of 997 turbos for sale, so if someone has a deep wallet and some patience, they can find the exact low mileage car they're looking for.

you are very right.

i could have sworn 100k was the new normal for these 50k mile cars but looking at history, that's not the case at all. apparently i have been imagining things / am an idiot.

this one landed exactly where it should have given the mileage for the market lately.

In terms of mileage, in general it seems there's a high premium for under 20k miles, very big premium for under 10k and super-premium for under 1k-3k miles. This seems true across 911 generations, but especially so in the past 2 years when all that matters is "garage queens" that are never driven, only stored or hoarded for resale.

So perfectly fine cars with great owners with 50k+ miles get low-balled - but that's exactly where the deals are for a buyer...!

I rather buy a car with some miles that have been taken care of than those garage queens with very low miles. These cars hate to sit. Seals dry, etc!

Speaking of ultra-low-mileage, here's one with 2700 miles. Weird story about the paintwork because a trickle charger fell on it but otherwise looks nice.

Not only that, but when you pay big money for those cars you've essentially bought a car that you can't drive. If you put miles on it, you're wiping away the premium that you paid for it (unless you have FU money and it doesn't matter)

^ I totally agree, don't get the uber low miles thing as I really enjoy driving vs just looking at cars sitting there. Plus I don't have FU money or a warehouse/museum anyway.... I did buy my '09 with pretty low miles (22K) in 2014 but now it's about to hit 50K. #getoutanddrive

Meanwhile this yellow '07 manual coupe just went up with 10K miles. Will be interesting -

very meager spec to be honest, less than $130k. but that color and the miles are going to drive the price high.

and holy crap it's already at ~$109k. oof!

i don't have the heart to break it to the one guy that the car is limited to 193mph.

This just went up yesterday. Low mileage 2011 Turbo S. Very similar to my car except I have 7k more miles on mine.

Geeze, that car is skyrocketing! I think the yellow is interesting and certainly unique, but I've never been one for paying a premium just for a rare color. The underside of the car looks impressively clean. I could see paying a premium for something to clean and in excellent shape.

That's because he dry ice blasted the under side

If the window seal was pulled for the rear quarter refinish, I'd be sure that rivets from the window seal didn't fall into the rear quarter and cause the outward dents that are all too common. Obviously with a refinish on a panel, photos are always nice to see, especially on such a low mileage car. But as these cars get older, you do expect paintwork. However, you expect it slightly less on a bubble wrapped car like this one.

Check out this auction -

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...urbo-coupe-25/

I also want to ask you guys whether you think this statement in the description is true - "The Sport Chrono Package allows the 997.1 Turbo to overboost for up to 10 seconds, increasing peak rated torque to 505 ft-lb." I never really get on mine hard, but as soon as I shift to second, the boost is gone. Of course I can't stay in first for even 2 seconds.

Yes, that is true. Although it may be closer to 500lb ft. I have always heard 10 seconds, but I think you need to be full throttle.
