One thing that has been bothering me for a while is the SS illuminated door sill. After 14 years of use, it was pretty scratched and scuffed.
No matter what I tried, I could not get the scratches out and polish it up the way it looked new. After doing some research, I found a good solution and worked on it for about 15 min / side this morning. Photos below of before and after.
Before - tried to show the scratches and scuff marks. Before - tried to show the scratches and scuff marks. After - Much better after applying a little elbow grease... After - another shot - nice and shiny
No, I used two scuff pads - Scotch-brite maroon, first to remove major scuffs and scratches. Then, an 800 gray (they didn't have the Scotch-Brite gray but same grit used) for the fine scuff removal . Got both at the local Autozone. I cut the pads and used a velcro sand paper pad that came with my headlamp kit - the pads stuck nicely to those and prevented excessive pressure from my fingertips. When cleaning, I first put paint tape around the door sill to prevent scratching the body paint. When using the pads, I kept the strokes going front to back, staying with the grain of the stainless steel. I used a dry microfiber cloth to clean the SS a couple of times during the process. Then I applied a small amount of WD-40.
I used interior spray to clean up the "Turbo" illuminated section.
First buffing - be sure to use a wooden block or headlamp sandpaper holder to avoid undo pressure from fingers. Final buffing - again, use a wooden block to hold the pad

We are still in lockdown (15 weeks and counting) and I am looking forward to getting a few drives in when Im a allowed out!
Interior is done.
Love the steering wheel. Is this an Porsche OEM product? Does the car set off any warning or alarm signals for losing the multimedia functions of the OE steering wheel?
Did the FF motor mounts, Cantrell trans mount and new flex disc. I didn’t expect noticeable difference of any sort, but to my surprise, the idle is dead steady now, and shifting is much more precise.
All quite easy, getting the car on stands and taking off the underbelly pans was more of a pain than changing the parts themselves.
Its a wheel from a Macan - that was recovered to suit. No issues and was plug and play in my car.
I didn't have the MF wheel (had a Factory Sports Wheel) so no issues for me - however there is a module that works apparently.....
It changes the whole car - brings it into the current age IMHO.
Thanks for the info. Agree the wheel transforms the interior space in a modern way. Also love what you did with the interior in terms of seats. Did you reupholster anything?
In the middle of soda blasting my valves.. Exhaust valves are baked like a rock. Intake were easy to clean. Will have to modify my baking soda container to improve flow... Will continue next week with the rest

I re-did the GT2 buckets (they were new) to match the 18 -ways the car came with, and then of course the inserts.
Also had the centre console done to match the already deviated stitching that was everywhere else. Dash and Door and even centre stack was done @ factory.
