Car hasn’t felt right the last few weeks. Felt down on power and an audible hissing noise was heard under load when the windows were down. Suspected a boost leak.

Went to Home Depot and built a tester. Identified the air leak very quickly with this setup. Found it to be a split rubber hose for the purge control solenoid behind the plenum.

No part on hand, I repaired it using a generic Honda hose for the time being. Works. Ordered the correct part and will install upon arrival.

Also stopped in at the local Porsche dealership to pick up and install the 4 o rings for the charge air tubes on the inlet and outlet of each intercooler. Installed while I had access to the clamps with the bumper off.

Tester:

Split hose: 997.110.693.70

“Good morning sir, are you checking in for service?” 🤣

Car feels like it should. Hissing noise gone. All in all, a fun time.

Thanks man! I purchased and installed the roll bar in April.

Thank you! The cage really is a great aesthetic AND performance mod. It really stiffens things up and the handling of the vehicle is dramatically changed for the better (I have the type that bolts to the rear strut mounts). You'll love it.

today i replaced the battery and learned the joys of how difficult it is to get the hood open with no juice.

things i did not expect:
  1. not being able to open the front hood with a dead battery
  2. key becoming stuck in ignition with a dead battery
  3. battery charger with a jump start mode does not work for the power through fuse box emergency hood open trick
  4. finding someone had put a mopar battery in the car
  5. the battery being so dead that hours of charge would not bring it back to life
  6. the insane state of things with some battery charge but not enough to start the car - the windows rolled down on their own and would not go back up, the windshield wipers came on, the hazards came on, every error code imaginable on the dash and the dash lights / illumination all flashed as i tried to start the car.
quick trip to the auto store with a new AGM battery and all is well but that was not how i wanted to spend my morning.

haven’t driven a car without automatic headlights in 10+ years, leaving them on overnight was the cause. all this was a good hard lesson that will teach me to never forget that again.

had some sound deadening installed in the doors to cut down on the loud road noise. made quite a bit of difference and also tightened up the mid bass response from the door speakers.

Finally getting around to trying out my Foxwell OBD2 scanner/tool. I’ve been receiving a rear spoiler warning when I exceed 75mph (no leaks but the hydraulic system most likely needs to be flushed), so until I have time to dig into the spoiler system, I used the Foxwell tool to deactivate the rear spoiler so I no longer receive the dash warning. Also, able to pull up DME over-rev information which is a bonus. I’ve heard of shops charging $75+ To perform these simple types of functions; this tool is under $200 and well worth it to me. I’ve only scratched the surface in terms of its capabilities!

BUT that only works with your Porsche, is that correct?
