I was high bidder on an even lower mileage frog yesterday... was really surprised I even won, my top price was $190k so the reserve had to be higher

Even for those of us not in the market and already have cars, I think most of us are annoyed more than anything. Most of the guys in here enjoy their cars, have no intention to sell and besides the warm and fuzzy feeling of saying “our cars appreciated overnight”, there’s not much benefit to us with the market as crazy as it is. Even then, would we really make much if anything after factoring in taxes, maintenance, etc, maybe but maybe not.
I know a couple of us actively talk with those looking and genuinely would like to see others get in and enjoy these cars. Capitalism is great and all the dealers are doing is making their profit and staying in business but It’s also unfortunate that enthusiasts are being left behind.

Thanks for the info @jasonturbo , your feedback is at odd's with other threads on the topic, so I'll need to dig into it more. I'll still respond here, as it think it's relevant for those determining the condition of cars for sale. The thickness of the ceramic is thinner at the wear indicators to my understanding, so when you start to see a differential in surface finish/texture at the wear indicator as on that vehicle, I believe it indicates that the disc is nearing the end of it's life. Front's look even worse when you can clearly see different colourations in the surface.
Happy to learn that I'm wrong, as I was using this to help understand the condition of PCCB's prior to purchasing my .2 GT3, and images like this above would have definitely caused me to factor in new PCCB's into my offer.

Btw, WonderDan,... up in post 10297, you mention your car has 18-way seats. Maybe 14-way? ... or they were replaced.

[QUOTE=jasonturbo;17711107]Read the FSM process for evaluating condition of PCCB rotors linked in my post. I've seen PCCB rotors with visible indicators when the rotors measure >new min thickness.
100% agree @jasonturbo, read the technical service bulletin that you linked, then discuss the remaining gaps with a knowledgeable Porsche tech. My understanding is that you go through the steps in order, and need to pass the visual check (Step 1: surface changes in the brake disc friction surfaces) before you proceed to check the surface roughness and thickness. I believe passing that first visual inspection requires less than 50% of the wear indicator surface area showing delamination. Fail step 1, and you don't progress to criteria 2 and 3 governing the minimum condition to avoid replacement. That's all the additional information I have to provide future purchasers of PCCB equipped vehicles however, so they should do their research and decide for themselves on how to make the call on PCCB condition.

The 'wear indicators' on PCCBs are to be used as a visual reference when assessing rotor wear as a result of heat cycling etc.. being able to see the wear indicators does not indicate that the rotor is worn and needs replacement. Assuming that the rotor surface passes visual inspection, the remaining rotor thickness should be measured with a micrometer just as you would on any car, the minimum required rotor thickness is stamped on the rotor hat.
Said another way, being able to see the wear indicators does not indicate rotor wear, you are supposed to see them.

It’s a weird time… I bought the best example I could find @11k miles (loved the shopping experience) three years ago with the intention of tracking it. I haven't been doing SCCA long and I’ve learned with other ppls cars. So covid hit and 2 kids later I shopped all the track goodies… prob 25k in parts (still in boxes) and I have a quote to install all of it for another $6k. Dundon exhaust and bucket seats are another $15k… so that’s like 40k.
So I’m stuck… my car is awesome but it’s hard to ignore that I can BAT the car today and go buy myself a high mileage GT3 or GT4 track build and pay for the hobby till the end of time… my intention was never to make money or watch it appreciate under hyper inflation so before I drill holes in the chassis for the cage, burn the PCCBs and put track miles it… kinda makes sense to sell it to someone that wants to stare at it.

Too bad that dealership blows. Lukas was basically going to be forced to fork over a 10k non refundable deposit and even if a ppi showed stuff, was still going to have to buy it. I went to look at that black .2 back in the day and salesperson was very adamant about that policy which I think is BS personally.

I honestly would take your black .2 over that .1 green. Don't ask me why. Maybe not a green guy and your black .2 is probably my favorite black car on this site. It stunning and you did a great job with it.
