The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

Why were you bidding on this? Dont you had a black 997 GT3? I've seen a lot of familiar names bidding on these Auctions, even with another one in the garage.
It seems between existing owners bidding to prop up the value of their own cars, dealers playing hot potato, and snaveed... these cars are rarely about "the best driving enthusiast car out there" anymore and more about speculation about values.

If you read his comments he blatantly says, these are all great deals still given the amount of $ the world is printing.

yep I’m looking for something over 25k miles…my black one is canyons only now so I can stay below 15k miles. So really I’m looking for anything I can track and drive without thinking about any of this dollar inflation speculation Svaveed is doing…R8 or 997.2

There's a lot of enthusiast out there (myself included) who keep getting burned and haven't had their first and a lot of other people coming back for seconds and thirds with no real intention other than speculation.... I get it people can do whatever they want with their wallets, but this doesnt feel very "enthusiast" and is counter to what got a lot of us into these cars in the first place. For most of us this is a car that we'll never sell because "xyz whatever reason its the best", so not wanting to drive a car because of depreciation + bidding on 2nd or 3rd identical cars, is not what these cars are about...

The previous seller on BAT, 911R, claimed the car was all original paint. It's possible the seller did have paintwork performed, but that paint meter was also not a paint meter I'd trust given that it was reporting 1-2mil readings. Unless the car was really over polished, I don't think it was reading properly. The low readings appeared to be on non clear filmed panels, then there was a 5mil on the door, which I agree was strange given that it didn't have PPF on it. Then the 8mil readings were on clear film except for the 11mil reading which was also strange and I wonder if it was from them not holding the meter on the surface properly. Either way, a $150 paint meter on Amazon is really all you need from one of the more reputable brands. Hopefully the next owner joins Rennlist.
Regarding the bumper repaint, I looked at the pics from the original acution, including the pic that is posted in this thread above, and I don't see anything other than reflections of some overhead objects.

You have a really nice example that isnt high mileage nor delivery miles and you don't want to drive it because you're worried you might depreciate the car?

Fast forward to covid and I decided I liked the 997.2 enough to track it...personal preference as to why I wouldn't turn the one I have into a track car, I'd rather find one that's highly molested. The GT3RS has more forgiveness around tracking... I wish it were different for the GT3 but it is what it is.
This community provides a first mover chance to find a good car just like it did on that $130k one this weekend.

I found that very bizarre. People requested paint meter readings, seller posted them and they were so all over the place that any reasonable person would scratch their head, and yet no one questioned them. It's almost like the act of positing meter readings, rather than what the readings actually showed, was what buyers were interested in.

Also, for those of you not on Instagram, Doug is doing a podcast, premiering Wednesday 8pm. Maybe with enough of us GT3 guys online, we can get some GT content on there too. https://www.youtube.com/user/switchcars

And the 997.2 Turbo Udrive had listed for $230k also shows sale pending. Seems insane. We have not seen any 997 Turbos listed anywhere even near 200K. Just crazy.

The similar one listed by Isringhausen for $370K also now appears to have been sold.

What's crazy is the amount of funny money the top 1% has right now due to covid V recovery. These cars are in alignment with the wealth increase and further boosted by the chip shortage (no new cars). These cars are worth every single penny they are being bought for right now.

Anyone know if this one sold? https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1267764
