997 is already slow as molasses compared to 991.
the real reason to buy 997 is to enjoy it for what it is.
to go fast 991, no questions
i kept my 997 for grocery getting and 991 RS for showboating with the fast and furious

mcrono, you may be right about the track rats wanting to achieve better times with better equipment but I believe the 997's values aren't all about lap times and not all 997 owners are track junkies. Not only are production numbers low which is relative to availability but they have an innate quality about them that is similar to why so many drivers like the air cooled generation 911's. As decades tick by, each generation seems to loose a little sole. Porsche continues to deliver sole in spades but it gets a little more difficult in the fast pace of technology me thinks.

997 values arn't crashing anytime soon. Too limited production for a masterpiece. For that matter 996 prices have remained strong as well.

If you can get past the cheesy description (and the inflated price), this car is the first NA car according to serial #

Longtime lurker. Hoping to find a 997.2 gt3 once the 991.2 comes out and prices come down a bit. In the meantime, any idea about this CL listing?

Selling my Manthey'd RS after 4 years, it's a CH car so potentially only interesting for CH-members.

991 Gt3 - Faster - easier to drive - newer - made for larger audience - better car for aging enthusiast - watered down feedback - wife will like more - easy daily driver - modern feel - non Mezger - Auto Transmission - not last of the breed - Amazing car.
997.2 Gt3 - Slower - harder to drive - older - made for smaller audience - better car for driving enthusiast - raw feedback - wife will like less - not as easy daily driver - classic feel - Mezger - Manual transmission - last of the breed - Amazing car.
Imho the two cars look similiar but are completely different. You cannot compare the two other than looks. The 997.2 Gt3 is a classic Porsche, the 991 Gt3 is a modern Porsche. One offers more feedback and a personal connection while the other offers more speed and handling but less personal connection. One offers an emotional connection, the other offers comfort, speed, ease of driving. Two different cars - they cannot be compared.
997.2 Gt3 will lose a bit of value but values go up in 20 years since no more are being made.
991 Gt3 will lose a bit of value but values go up in 20 years UNLESS Porsche makes too many of them and floods the market with newer model years that feel the same but go faster.
The 997.2 Gt3 has no other variables to compete with, I believe it's a safer investment in the long run.

Comparable- Thought I would share the following comparable for current buyer/sellers. I Purchased in June 2017 - a 2011 gt3 Org MSRP 140k / 6k miles/ Perfect in and out / never tracked / zero over revs / cpo'd - paid 145k plus fees.
