I've heard they paid around mid 200 for it.....if they did all the factory repairs & has CPO, it's a bargain

^ 339 is a deal?

Problem with the car is the ugly history and the replacement engine. No one will pay a premium with that ugly stain on ita past.

Might be a solid car but....

I'm confused, are we talking about the Guards Red GT3 on ebay or the GT3 RS posted below my original post?

Default Fort Lauderdale GT3RS

does anyone know this car? It was last serviced by Goldcrest motorsports in Kennesaw Georgia in 2016 according to the car fax. Supposedly a one owner car that was tracked with some low range over revs. Been for sale for about 5 months now. Certified Pre Owned from the dealer. Was told the over revs weren't an issue since they CPO the car. I didn't see a DME report.

Appears the front bumper was resprayed or they took the clear vinyl off (if it had any). Some nicks in the paint around the head lights but bumper looks perfect

I went to look at it and the battery was dead. The sales guy I had didn't know much about the car. Tried selling me a 991 carrera S instead.

What should I be looking at with these cars? I'm new to the Porsche world. Any items that need attention on these cars? Should track rats be avoided at all costs? The build sheet wouldn't come up but the MSRP was around 145k. So not sure the options but it has metal brake rotors and did not have the axle lift button on the dash.

Thanks for the help!

Nice color combo! Definitely have a look at the DME report which will show you the extent of the over revs and when they occurred during the cars life span. It will show the hours it happened at and how many operating hours the car has in total. I guess you can use the total operating hours and the mileage and work out if that matches up and makes sense.

Wouldn't be too worried about a track car, they're pretty sturdy, besides the usual PPI maybe you can get a panel shop to look at the paint depths to see what's original and what's not. I think if it checks out mechanically and you're happy with the paint and interior then there's probably not much else to look at.

Longtime lurker. Hoping to find a 997.2 gt3 once the 991.2 comes out and prices come down a bit. In the meantime, any idea about this CL listing?

3 owners already. First titled in FL. Ad says "Pre Sale Inspection completed and report is in hand", so I suppose they don't want you doing your own PPI? Also, they claim "no tax". How exactly does that work? I'm not feeling the warm fuzzies with this one.

regarding tax on the above CL ad, no sales tax for cars sold private party in AZ. Doesn't mean you won't pay tax when bringing to another state. In Californication you can leave it in AZ for one year and then bring it in without tax.

I don't see the prices coming down just because the 991.2 comes out. They're not going to be easily attainable and will be substantially more money so I just don't see prices moving that much. Just my opinion of course

It amuses me how almost all the wannabe prospective GT3 buyers out there are certain that 997 GT3 prices are going to plummet once the manual 991.2 version hits the market.

Perhaps, perhaps not. I'm guessing the latter but time will tell. I'm hanging on to mine indefinitely so I could care less about it's future value. It makes me happy and that's all that matters.

If you can get past the cheesy description (and the inflated price), this car is the first NA car according to serial #

Plummet no. Soften a little more? Maybe. For a prospective buyer of a 997 GT car, I think its worth the 3-5 month wait to see.

I doubt it will soften. as the 997's get older the "softness" will be dependant on the condition of the cars and their history. There is an *** for every seat.

You can bet that once 997 owners start getting beat at the track, they will come looking to trade-up, plus 997 values have a long way to fall relative to a more typical depreciation curve.

But then again, who knows? We shall see.
