151k after fees.

Wow reserve was at 145-146k for the BAT .1 I’m guessing.
I call it the 911r effect. The photographer that he uses is unlike any other. For myself, I could not buy off those pictures as they are too processed and make a 1964 look like even the interior just rolled off the factory floor.

For the guy posting that is looking for a GT3 I would like to add a word of advice. Actually a few words:

1. Put wanted ads up on PCA or anywhere else you can

2. If you find a car and it seems like a reasonable price and a nice car but you simply need to get some clarity with a PPI or whatever, put a $500 deposit on it EDIT: IMMEDIATELY to tie it up subject to inspection. Don't do it Paypal friends and Family where there are no refunds.

3. Don't ask opinions about a car here if you find it and it's not advertised on Autotrader etc. You are looking for steak and you found a piece of it. Asking other wolves what they think of your steak may not be advisable. I just bought a 2016 4GTS and was negotiating price on it and a forum member made a post asking for opinions on it. Instantly another guy made an offer so I had to buy it at what they were asking.

Carrara White .1 RS with 10k miles, PCCB’s, and full leather. Car is priced at $300k.

I looked at this car a few years ago in person when it was at San Francisco Sports Cars (was at Marshall Goldman later on) the car had damage reported on the Carfax. Rodents had gotten into the car and had chewed up some of the wiring. Owner reported this to the insurance company and Carfax thus reported it as damage. Also when I looked at the car the full PPF was quite old and had started to yellow. Not sure if it has been replaced since.

I have a 07 with about 25k miles on it. White, stripper options not actively selling it but also haven't been using it much the last 3-4 years. PM me if you want to talk.

Regarding purchasing a preowned GT3, here is my opinion as a long-time Porsche fan. Yes, it is a disease!

I bought my first Porsche in 1972, a 1966 912 from Brumos Porsche in Jacksonvile, FL. I lived in Jacksonvile at the time and was 24. My first three cars were Corvairs (rear engines) which were what directed me toward wanting a Porsche and finishing college. The 912 that Brumos had was a trade-in, and their asking price was $2,200. Yes, things were way different back then.

My second Porsche was a Signal Orange 1971 911T that belonged to my next-door neighbor. In 1973, he decided that he wanted a Chevy Monte Carlo, for reasons that I never understood, and he offered his pristine two year old 911T to me for $3,500. I bought it, and turned the 912 over to my then-wife. She loved it and became an excellent autocrosser in her 912.

Including those first two Porsches, from 1972-2012 I had purchased 22 Porsches, most of which were bought from private owners for me, not for resale. The only brand new Porsches that I bought from dealers were a 914 and a 1974 911. All the rest were private sales, including my GT3 that I bought from a long-time Porsche buddy who wanted the 1987 Carrera that I owned at the time. He was, and still is a fan of the Luftkuhl Porsches.

I am 74 now and have owned my 997.1 GT3 for 12 years. I had another Porsche buddy who was selling his 2007 GT3RS in 2012 that I was interested in buying, but I would have had to sell my .1 GT3 to get it. I tried to sell it here on Rennlist at a reasonable price, but that didn't happen due to some of the crazy buyers who popped out of the woodwork with 40+ questions and unreasonable offers. My one demand was that a serious buyer would have to inspect and (maybe) test drive my GT3 in person, so that there would not be any after-the-sale negative issues. NOT ONE of the half-dozen allegedly prospective buyers would buy a plane ticket or whatever, to inspect the car in person. In the meantime, my friend sold his RS, so I took mine off the market and decided to never, ever put it on the market again. This one is my final Porsche and aside from rebuilding the starter. After 12 years of ownership, my 997.1 has never had an issue outside of a burnt-out taillight bulb. No, I no longer autocross or track, that was many years ago.

What I am trying to say is, if you really and seriously are in the market for a pre-owned GT3, I have two major suggestions - 1.) Do your best to work with a private seller; and 2.) Inspect the car in person, or at least, have a friend who knows Porsches very well, do it for you.

BTW, 45K is less than 3K per year....

Might as well do a SW 4.1 build now. Car is junk otherwise.

Agree.after it passed PPI, I purchased my 997.1 in 2013 in LA. I flew to LA from Richmond Va and back same day simply to see and test drive. I did the same to St. Louis in 2015 with my 997.2 after the first three PPIs failed on other examples, except I drove that one home. I still enjoy both, with no surprises. PPIs and trusting eyes (and test drive) are usually the way to go.

Halleluja brother. I've settled in too. I'm getting a new left knee on June 2 so I will miss driving with a clutch for maybe 6-8 weeks. I'm 65 now and I want to still be riding my motorcycles and a manual for another decade anyway.

I bought a plane ticket to go to MN to meet Mike (PO) and inspect/drive my RS before the final purchase. I have no clue how someone doesn't want to invest that time into seeing it in person.

Me too! I flew to Denver to test drive and inspect my GT3 purchase in 2019.....afterwards, all was as I hoped, so I drove it home to LV later that day and therefore didn't use my return flight.
But be prepared to "kiss a few frogs" before you find the right car, especially in this market.

I drove my '84 3.2 to inspect, and drove home in a '10 GT3 . . .

Time. With three little kids, it's super tough to take a day or two to check out a car. Luckily my GT3 was 10 minutes down the road at Doug's but I've bought a bunch of cars sight unseen and had them shipped. Most of the time it has worked out just fine.
