The prices have only really moved in conjunction with the other variants / options out there. In my opinion the 997 GT3 market has been influential on the 964Turbo (& pulled it up slightly over the past 4-5 yrs). Once a lover of the 964T realizes that the price for a sorted car starts to creep close to the price of a GT3 car, they give up & move on. I think most would agree that if you had to chose between a well-sorted, mid-mileage 3.3l 964 Turbo for $130k, or a 997.2 GT3 for around the same price, but REALLY wanted to pay closer to $100k, then would you not buy a 996 GT3 for $100k? (or better yet, a 997.1 GT3 for a in-between price?). I actually heard that at a classic P-car gathering this past weekend, as several 40-something yr old guys were standing over my 964 Turbo. I had to agree with them. Makes sense.

The 997 felt "familiar" as soon as I sat in the drivers seat. It's when you get into a 991/992 variant, things change. Don't get me wrong, 991 and 992 are incredible machines. But, IMVHO, the 997 represents the final step before 911s in general turned into a different breed of machine. And it is this reason alone I feel the 997 will forever be looked-upon as the last "true" 911 sports car. The buck stops at the 997, so-to-speak. 911's then evolved into very capable GT cars. And, IMVHO, this will help maintain 997.1/2 GT car values for decades to come. If not, IDGAF. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of mine for as long as I can.

I agree with everything you've said above too Chris!! ... hence the reason I bought a 997.2 GT3 in my fav color Aqua Blue!! ... so yea I also agree that splitting miles between those two is also a lot of fun, and thus not selling my 964.
In fact, I actually regret selling my long hoods & G body SC's too. Even had a chance to buy a '55 pre-A 356 Speedster from Wash DC ABC News Anchor John Harter II before he passed away (& for those of you PCA Potomac Region, John was Porsche race teammate of Chick Stanton with George Hobart Racing back in the 80's).
Anyway,... my point is that to covet, appreciate and enjoy the generations is a pleasure worth pursuing.

This guy keeps his cars INSANELY pristine. Like details it every weekend, doesn't abuse what so ever, maintains perfectly. My cars I admittedly treat more like YOLO I'll wash them when I wash them, don't really vaccum/clean inside all that well and I pretty much floor them all everywhere hahahaha
So whoever buys it in this crazy market, at least they are getting a literal mint car

some people here have large stables, can definitely make it harder to put mileage on.
and certainly, everyone is different and fancy similes are fun. I have put almost 5000 on mine since I got it 1/2020 and still don’t feel I have enjoyed it enough. May be at 20K. I do have other options but that dilutes the experience even more (for me).
anyway, great thread, and apologies for the digression.

I know this might blow some people's minds, but some of us have multiple "toy" cars. If you work during the week but enjoy driving on weekends, how many miles can you realistically rack up ....... The low mileage cars are usually owned by people who need to make the fewest sacrifices, and are enjoying their other cars or hobbies.
