^ I look at BaT. I don't bother, the truly good cars change hand privately.
I sold off a few of my 997RS.
one email, one wire, gone.
BaT... bidding frenzy.

With only 411 examples to choose from to begin with, and now, with some that been wrecked, lost, stolen, damaged, torched in an LA riot etc, there are now less to choose from. That's what's driving the market for these, I believe. VIN is King. Remember, this was the very first RS Porsche ever sold new in North America. Yes there are market forces at play as well, but when you are looking at such a small production run, it starts to make sense. Snag this car before the dealer has a change of heart. Heck The Barnaba Pumpkin was for sale for quite some time at close to $150K, now it's going to auction. Go get it!!!

Yeah we just replaced the dashboard air vent CF pieces with leather on an RS. That is the dumbest option ever. "Hey let's glue long, thin CF strips down right in the spot where it will be exposed to extreme cold and heat on a regular basis!"
I mentioned this factory defect on a GTvault post and somebody absolutely lambasted me for using that as a selling point on a car without carbon trim, because "mine is perfect" so obviously I had no clue what I was talking about. I then researched his car and found out it was mostly aftermarket CF pieces and the factory pieces had been replaced already before he bought it. Ha.

Call me crazy, but with people stuck at home, excess liquidity and new entrants into the collector car market overall, am I completely wrong in thinking BaT has captured soooo much mindshare that people have all but stopped looking around other resources to find cars? it’s not just this RS, but other cars lately too have sold for bonkers money compared to what nearly identical examples have brought from other outlets.

Wow, that's a shift. Ya, no box n Papers, but original, untouched case. Dial is marbeling, which is somewhat common for these. I Love the fat case. Thanks for the input
I almost included it as partial payment toward the Pumpkin last May, but decided to keep it. It goes well with the car

I’m curious if these BAT sales actually go through? Like I understand BAT will get their cut but what’s the odds of a buddy bidding it so market can go up for fellow people.
