The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
#2086
mine was really really clean. the number was a bit reflected by it being a cdn car. 33xxxkm. (21000). but here in canada everybody asks 130 and cars sit for yrs. I'm getting a 19rs in may. and if that sucks. going to 997rs why in my other thread was asking how many metior grey ones are out there
your grey 997 was really nice I love that color. Yes I think being in Canada limits it a bit because there is that extra ~$3k import cost for a US citizen. So if you sold for mid $80s then add in the extra 3k it’s high $80k car which seems to be correct for the mileage currently.

There, that's another 2 cents from me....after researching these cars and pricing for the past 2-3 years (and using historical numbers back to 2010).

My prediction is that this current and correct range (above ^) for 997.1 GT3's will drop to $75k-90k during 2019.....as very good condition, non-diminished value 997.2 GT3's have already dipped into the low $90k's with pristine cars still "asking" $110-120K (good luck with that!). Note: I define diminished value cars as those with high mileage, accident history, and/or heavy track use.
There, that's another 2 cents from me....after researching these cars and pricing for the past 2-3 years (and using historical numbers back to 2010).

On BAT there are quite a few non sale .2 GT3’s bid up to low 90k but you have to remember there is also a 5% fee on top. And also those didn’t sell. The ones I saw that did sell were over 100k plus the fee.
I think your prediction is reasonably plausible although I don’t agree with it based on the low production numbers of both the .1 and .2. A lot of people predicted a significant price drop when the 991 manual came out. Yes there was a drop but it wasn’t super drastic...maybe 5-6%? Certainly a big stock market drop this year would do more to drive all prices down more than anything else in my mind.

can you share some current data points for your current .2 range? I don’t follow .2 as much but just searched ebay and cars.com and cheapest one I found was $94.6 for 40k+ miles. There was another one for like 99.8k. Everything else was 100k or over. Also went back a few pages on the marketplace here but didn’t see any low $90k .2 GT3s. This site is hard for me to search on keywords though so I didn’t bring up a lot.

1) Porsche Main Line; $120k build, 32,000 miles, black (less desirable color), sold for $95k last fall
2) Porsche Main Line: $127k build, 27,000 miles, arctic silver (rare), pristine condition w/CPO, sold for $106k a few weeks back. They had it for a month (blue wrap on it).
3) car listed here w/buckets and 30k miles, Meteor Grey, sold for high 90's in the fall
4) car listed here, $120k basic build, nice condition, 42k miles, sold for $93k (there is a thread about it).
Those are just 3 that I can think of. Most everything priced $115k, unless it has almost no miles, has been on the market for a long time.
Unless the car is super low mileage and loaded, I don't see why a patient buyer would have to spend any more than $110,000, even on a very, very nice example.

1) Porsche Main Line; $120k build, 32,000 miles, black (less desirable color), sold for $95k last fall
Black is impossible to sell for some reason. - $5k for black right off the bat when I'm bidding them.
2) Porsche Main Line: $127k build, 27,000 miles, arctic silver (rare), pristine condition w/CPO, sold for $106k a few weeks back. They had it for a month (blue wrap on it).
Arctic Silver may be rare but it is less valuable than most colors. The wrap kills it for most buyers. "What's underneath". It was a good car but unwrapped it would have sold for more.
3) car listed here w/buckets and 30k miles, Meteor Grey, sold for high 90's in the fall
Sold in less than two days. Undervalued.
4) car listed here, $120k basic build, nice condition, 42k miles, sold for $93k (there is a thread about it).
Crap ton of miles for majority of buyers.
Long story short, most of these cars have higher miles or another reason why they sold at a lower value. If you want to pull all the lowest data points, that's fine, but for the guys looking for a no-stories, low mile, nice-spec car, they are still six figures and then some all day long. I have plenty of recent data points on the other end of the spectrum.
The market has softened in the last 1-2 years, there's no denying that. But still, you get what you pay for, and the good ones command a premium, still.

your range seems slightly off to me. Original driver .1 GT3s with 20-30k miles seem to list for high 80s. Maybe you can end up at mid 80s or low 80s but I am curious to where you are seeing .1 going for high 70s?
I can’t ever recall seeing an ad for a .1 GT3 with a 7 in front of it.
Miles are a huge factor in pricing on these cars and grey one has 3x as many miles as the black one. I’m not saying it’s necessarily worth the ask or not but I also doubt finding a low mileage mint .1 for 90k.
I'll never understand this market. It is a good car, but there are a lot of good cars now that are a lot newer.

Thanks for the data points! based on my definitions so far I've seen one that I consider "low $90k"
What are people's definitions of "the market"? and also "low $90k", "middle $90k" and "high $90k"?
to me the market is roughly the pricing of the middle 80% of cars. I sort of ignore the bottom and top 10% because there are outliers there that can greatly askew and also there are very few sales in either range.
generally, to me "low $90k" means $90-93k; "Mid $90k" means $94-96 and "high $90k means "$97 to 100.
Both 997 GT3 iterations seem to be be currently holding value at high 70% of original MSRP so regardless that is a pretty low depreciation for a 9-12 year old car!

1. BMW Scottsdale had a Guards Red 2010, 25k miles, $92K ....it did not last long. Jan 2019
2. Porsche Mainline had the BBR track Cup prepped 2010, 20ishK miles, for $91-92K Jan 2019
3. Independent in Scottsdale White 2010, five lug conv, 26K miles, for $89,999 Nov 2018
I just put a deposit on a 2010 GT3 with lots of track goodies, 21,000 miles, for $94K .....I will be flying out and doing a PPI myself (armed with Durametric, paint meter, and hoist access) on Mar 12th.... fingers-crossed!!

I paid MSRP once in 2010 when I ordered my (likely) only Factory order 911.

Good Luck with the potential GT3 purchase! Post some pics if you end up buying it!
