I like Doug. Solid, honest from-the-hip guy.

well then, the bidding price goes UP due to celebrity ownership eh? hahaha! (well actually NOT, given Jerry Seinfelds 4.0)

And even though the verdict was 2 yrs ago, years of litigation explains some of why the car still has 10 year old tires on it.

.... my back hurts. I need some pills for that. maybe there's still a few under the seats.

in all seriousness, the car doesn't look to be in bad shape. Clearly it had a LOT more red in the interior from the factory, and I don't care for the green carbon bits he replaced for the console, dash etc.

guess it's already at $80K. Doug should take it. Everyone else stand down.

Question: Why does the BaT writeup say that the current owner bought it last year? Did he still have free reign of his funds & was still buying cars?
=S

Can’t believe what the orange .2 sold for. $92k plus buyers premium, so I guess right around $97k all in. Guessing with a DME report, paint meter, and a video showing some acceptable shifting it would have sold on there for closer to $100k plus buyers premium.

Red .1 is nice. Perlon GT2 buckets. Guessing that will reach $100k or so? Maybe a bit less. Who knows, cars with that low of mileage are hard to judge.

I’m surprised it got to 92k with questionable usage that flared out in the open. Doug initiated the bidding after it sat for a while. Good or bad, business is business. However, the market speaks and shows what an individual is willing to pay on a pts gt3. Looking at the other 2011rs, you see the same thing.

I doubt that 2007 will go as high as most think. I’ll wager it won’t be who you think buys it as well.

That orange car is worth $120k properly represented and checked out mechanically. It is a one-of-one PTS 16k miles 997.2 GT3. Soft market notwithstanding.
Bad driver or not, that doesn't mean the gearbox is shot nor does it mean it has bad overrevs. I was willing to take the gamble at a lower number, even at $90-95k you could factor in a LOT of maintenance/gearbox rebuild etc, and some risk for the unknowns, and you are ahead of the game. Heck, for that number I would have just driven the heck out of it.

The seller shot himself in the foot by #1 putting it on BaT and #2 representing it the way he did. Should have hired me, LOL. I kid I kid. Wait, no I don't.

Buyer got an incredible deal, even if it has some overrevs and he has to deal with some gearbox issues, but I would be surprised at either given how robust these cars are. In hindsight I should have put in another bid - wouldn't mind driving around an orange GT3 for the rest of the season, and I do need a car for SmokiesGT.

Cars.com: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...ff=share_other

this is relatively inexpensive- as in much cheaper than newer Caymans and Boxsters. Carfax is clean

On that black car, the only thing to look out for is tires that look like they have seen some heat cycles/track time. Not accusing that car of having track time, but it looks like it according to those tires.

Either way thats an amazing price with pinned coolant lines and a Sharkwerks exhaust already. Looks like it is ready to go. Just needs a DME report.

Precisely my point on the market not favoring a car with questionable usage and lack of reporting. I could count on one hand those currently seeking that “might” be willing to undertake the risk when another could be had for $15k more at present askings. Headroom or not. The trouble and stigma attached to that vehicle is indelible whether it’s pts or not. The rarity hurts it even more as your prospective market shifts.

No question about the gearbox. I know they’re durable and that’s apparent with the many interactions with Matt and Bill Rader. The motor on the other hand...even most of your track rats aren’t given that treatment right out of the box. But hey, good on the guy for selling with transparency and the buyer for snapping it up and adding yet ANOTHER data point. For that, I’m a happy guy sitting back in a part of the country I can drive year round and on some of the best roads/tracks in continental US.

My skin: I don’t want a 997.1rs or even a 997.2 gt3. I didn’t even bother honestly just like that 11rs. A nice .2rs on the other hand......

I just consigned my 2011 Meteor Metallic Grey GT3 w/ 25k miles to a local dealer. It has buckets, PCCB, Front lift and a bunch of other options. It was purchased from Porsche North Houston as a CPO 4 years ago by a fellow rennlister, I bought it from him about 4 months later and since then I have put about 8k miles on it. It has all the maintenance done with records at the local Porsche dealer. I just got new tires installed and ready for a new home. I have the DME readout with only a few stage 1 and stage 2 over revs, Max @ Luxe can send it to you if you are interested. Clutch/flywheel was replaced a couple thousand miles ago, perfect mechanically. No accidents or paint work. Ping me if you have any questions!
