Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on pricing considering now there's strong indications that the 991.2 GT3 will have an option for manual. Will this cause 997's to deflate significantly?

Also let's not forget the amount of 997 vs 991 GT cars produced. Only a fraction of the former were made in comparison to the latter. My view is that the 991-1 GT3 is the car that would take the biggest hit on value. When you compare those to 997 GT cars, there is definitely room for depreciation and with an engine waiting to grenade I don't see how those cars are going to keep their value long term.

But some will trade 997 for 991 and that should put a little more supply on the market and that should put a bit of pressure on price. Will it materially impact 997 pricing?, I have no idea. No idea how many 997-for-991 manual hold-out guys there will be? I do agree that unlikely we see another manual RS. So they may be a bit more insulated. However, that's already priced in quite a bit; 997rs's keep leaving plane Jane 997 gt3 behind. I doubt that will change going forward. And, no, it doesn't make sense from a "value" or "performance" perspective but it's a reality and one that I don't fight. If total dollar not an issue, buy the RS every time.

I also know of a few gt4 owners who still look at the 997s with lust in their eyes.
At this point, if you are driving a 997 it's because you want to drive a 997. Sure a few might say "it's time" and move on at that time but it will come down to the drive. Will the "new" 991.2 gt3 in manual form transform it into a modern day classic? Most likely the weak hands of 991.1 owners are more likely to jump ship, if they can get their left foot working again.
Unless the new gt3 is really special, as in, drives as special as the 911R does (or is purported to drive - how much of this is mystique attributed to a limited edition model?) then I actually think sales could even be underwhelming.
The classic 997 GT ship has sailed.

I do believe that the GT4 did actually have something to do with the decrease of 997 GT (not RS!) values. They've dropped down 10-15% from a year ago. And in my view a lot of it had to do with the broad availability of the GT4. Similar performance from a brand new car with a warranty. At a similar price point.
