The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

Is it me or is there a heck of a lot more volume this year than there was last year, you guys should feel lucky there are options! The only downside of having options when I bought my first one was that I over analyzed it and lost a really good car over a $5k debate.

@lawrence1 , I’m disappointed to see you accuse me of flipping the 997 turbo without knowing what I sold it for. I took a $10k+ loss on that one. I can provide proof if you’d like.
edit: for transparency I purchased the car for $115,899, paid $2,000 for enclosed shipping, spent a few thousand getting it sorted and wound up selling it to San Francisco Sports Cars for $110,000.

Specific to the 997 turbo in question, I only know about it since I was starting to look at 997 turbos and noticed the quick flip. Whether you made money or lost money is irrelevant. Someone posted that car in the 997 turbo forum (which looked like a nice example) and you jumped on it immediately. 2 weeks later (of which i assume 1 week minimum was transit time) it was flipped to san francisco sports cars who then flipped it on pcarmarket for $145K. then you posted another WTB ad for a 997 turbo. At the same time you apparently also jumped on a 991.2 gt3 that was posted in the 991.2 gt3 forum, only to turn around and sell it shortly after here in the classifieds. Now it's the same song and dance in this forum.
Before you get defensive, the reasons for the above aren't really relevant, nor do you owe anyone an explanation. These are simply factual observations.

Sorry chief, I call'em like i see them. Just so you know, i really couldn't care less what you buy, sell, keep, trade, etc. What you do with your time, money and cars is your business. I'm only pointing out what i observed, and noted it fits the profile of the typical fake "enthusiast" that comes on these forums to find a car, gets a car (often with the help of other members), then flips the car shortly after for various reasons. In some cases, it's rinse and repeat while trying to maintain the "enthusiast" veneer.

if you're referring to the low mileage atlas car ... that is likely the most abused 997 GT3 i've ever seen (i went to see it in person as i was going to buy it). simply beat to ****, good interior, exterior was trashed all over, mechanically a basket case. I even went and spoke to the shop that had worked on it and the owner told me right away that the car was the worst he's ever seen (those guys build and service track & race cars day in and day out). That's why that car sat for so long.

Don't give yourself too much credit - there are 4 forums I follow on Rennlist and you were in 3 of them. Don't need to be Einstein's cousin to put 2 and 2 together. Happy Thanksgiving!

gotcha. just with some of the prices ive seen on recent cars asking 150-170k with no buckets but then seeing some of these auctions below that went through BaT. just showing these two examples and see some other examples of 997.2 gt3 around the 150-160k mark with lower miles and no buckets. just curious what a 50k mile gt3 is worth with no buckets? i saw the most recent one on BaT that sold for 139K w/ 50k miles but that seems high, however i dont know if the market just jumped up over the summer?

didn't you just sell your .2 recently with 14k miles for 162k? which partially seems to be my question. i see these cars listed high but when sold in an auction they land at 150-160k maybe a few at 170k unless its PTS or has some crazy options. so are people just over pricing some of the cars that are sitting?

Track Day
Alright guys,
I locked up the '07 gt3 from Auto Kennel two hours after it went live on their website 11/10. It's been a long, sleepless last week. One of my sons and I drove up to the Bay on Hwy 1 yesterday. Over the moon at finally, after being a 40-year motorsport enthusiast, reaching my endgame car. Paul at Auto Kennel was absolutely the best. Huge thanks to K @Upscale Audio and D @shrp , you guys helped timing to help make this dream come true. I've been primarily a lurker here for the last decade in this priceless community, finding countless useful bits for my 996.2 c2. In hindsight, there must have been a reason I just days before had passed on another gt3, and missed one other. This car checks all my boxes. That Mezger sound is unlike anything I've ever been behind the wheel (or between my legs) of. I bought it to drive it. It'll probably never be as pristine as it is now, though I'm real picky. No garage queen here. I'd never sat in (much less driven) a gt3, but knew this was it for me, and have been following that 997 market for years. Couldn't be happie
