Although with 20" wheels and center-lock hubs it will be a tough decision for sure. I hope there is an option for 5-lug wheels like the GTS had. And I hope 18" wheels will fit - they do not on the 991 C2S.

I agree, I wait until it all pans out. A 997 GT2 may be the best choice for me in the future. Light weight and all the power anyone could ever want and 5 lug.

Ray. There will be 20" center lock wheels as stock on the 991 GT3 and it wont affect anyone's purchasing decision about the car especially if the road reviews are glowing. The Chassis could probably work with 19s but the engineers did not design this for compliance with 18s so its outside the remit and I doubt anyone will turn down their 991 GT3 order because they cant fit 18s.

The GT2 is such a different driving experience to a GT3 as to render a comparison as relevant as comparing my 330 bhp 993 to the 997.2 GT3 IMHO....

Why give up? Keep practicing the heel/toe (including on the street) and you'll eventually get it.

18 wheels will fit. New Cup has 380mm rotors, and 18" wheels, so new gt3 will have the same brake setup, and 18" wheels can be made to fit. No worries.

Rotors are not the problem the control arm is. We will see what the supercups have on them.

That's the point, there is no personal satisfaction when a computer performs the task for you.

For me one of the most enjoyable things in life (with my clothes on) is driving my GT3 and when I do the perfect hell/toe downshift, take the perfect line in a curve at the maximum speed possible, feed in throttle at just the right rate coming out of the curve and upshift at redline down a straight (which all happens rarely) puts a smile on my face like nothing else.

Having a computer make it perfect for me misses the whole point.

Call me a purist but there is no way I would buy a GT3 without a manual.
I have a deposit on one and will cancel the order if no manual is available.

My understanding is Porsche Stuttgart cannot receive any customer orders for this vehicle until the price is given and the books are open which is presumed to be just prior to the March Geneva Auto show. This is as I understand it standard practice.

However dealers around the work have already indicated their preference for the number of GT3's they will order for delivery in 2013 and although the factory will allocate in accordance with supply and dealer status some well known dealers are obviously guaranteed of supply although at this time they will be uncertain of how many units they will get and when. If you have a relationship with such a dealer they may extend to you an option and you may even give them some money to secure this informal arrangement to ensure you an early delivery.

The information I have (although sketchy as the factory are probably still working through dates) is that the GT3 will be announced at the March 2013 Geneva auto show, pricing will be revealed and order books will open at that time. Early orders will need to be in the system by mid-late April for production starting late June/early July. Deliveries to mainland Europe will likely start late July/Early August with press cars and demonstrators likely first Customer cars are likely to start being delivered mid August on wards. For the USA Id imagine add 4-5 weeks to those dates. ROW markets such as NZ and Australia are probably realistically + 8-10 weeks...

BG. I agree with you that one of teh great pleasures of 911 ownership is matching the revs on a heel and toe downshift and all those things you mention. However the times are a changing. Im not entirely comfortable with a PDK only GT3. I wasn't thrilled when Ferrari said it would no longer produce a manual car either (not that Ill likely ever be a new car customer of theirs!). The fact is now this. If Porsche release the GT3 as PDK only they will not go back. They cant. They are operating in a very competitive environment where performance stats are important to market share.

If there is never another non PDK GT3/RS ever made what are we all to do? Stop buying Porches? Hell in 5 years this may well be true of ALL 911's!

In the meantime enjoy your 997.1 GT3 for a long time. Its a great car and can deliver in all those areas that are important to you. Im not selling my 993 C2 6 speed that's for sure...
