i cannot believe that the trucks all stay in the slow lane.
is it heavily policed there that they have to do so? or is it the culture that people are raised in?
here, they have to stay in the slow lane, but they drive parallel, blocking the road; cars don't move over either.

everybody here thinks that THEY own the road....it's utterly bad.

I've done a fair amount of driving on the Autobahn. I think it's the culture. There are exceptions but German drivers, including truckers, are pretty good about either staying out of the fast lane or moving over for faster traffic. It can be interesting though, when you're doing 130mph and a 55mph truck decides he does want to pass a slower vehicle. You learn to anticipate to avoid having to test your brakes too much, and you're also peeved about having to build all that momentum again! Most of the time it doesn't pay to drive that fast for just this reason; very inefficient and gas is expensive.

Sounds like Australia is very similar to the U.S where most people think it's their god given right to drive in the fast lane.

yes, people here think it's their god-given right to do anything they please.
getting worse every year.
at the moment, the fashion is not bothering using turning indicators. major issue.
some cars didn't use them in that video above too. it must be because the stalk is so far
away from the hands....

Such a joy to drive in Germany where everyone is on board and knows what the rules are!

it looks like fantasy-land to me!!!!
very nice!
the fastest lanes here are always the 'supposed' slow lanes.
you have to drive around everybody, and then you are labelled as a mental.

How does AMS do an artist's rendering this late in the game and manage to get the front end all wrong when Porsche has been showing it for months?

Most of the trucks on this bit of Autobahn (the A6, from memory) are foreign, the German discipline is catching. When a couple of trucks do go in for elephant racing, the fast drivers stuck behind know that the road ahead will be clear for longer by the time the (relatively) faster elephant has passed the slower elephant., and don't get too uptight, the jerks are another matter.

If ever you meet somebody who is a self proclaimed slow driver (and doesn't see the need for rush etc), take them out on the Autobahn at high speed (over 170 mph) and let them experience what happens when somebody pulls out without looking and also noticing that your nice expensive car is quieter and more comfortable at this speed than their usually illkempt rust bucket at 60mph.
Its usually a reforming moment

Excellent question, although to be fair the spy pics show a front end with taped over bits so maybe the artist felt he still had to guess. Or maybe he's just not very good. In any event, all of the questions will be answered in another 6 weeks.

lol, good point Nordschleife!

I've done that but 155 seems to do the trick. Weird how people are scared of speed when nothing is going on!
Nothing like a brake test when a Romanian POS truck pulls out at 50..

But they are getting better.

Also the Euro trucks are governed at 55, so no 90mph 18 wheelers like in the US but the diesel price is starting to slow them down now...

Except cheeseheads...ooops...I meant the Dutch. Usually, when there's someone on the left lane using his god-given right to do 130km/h at an open stretch of Autobahn the car has long orange plates.
