Hey, had a great time meeting you also. Great luck with the weather. I sure did like Spa as well. It would be a pleasure to be at a track event again in the future with you!

And TDM, you are the MAN for doing this! Can't wait to hear some stories in person.
Hey Pete, a little competition is good to push all of us! In any event, looking forward to catching up with you as well. So much to tell, but the majority is here on this thread.

I should get to post pics of Spa either later today or tomorrow.

Spa was fantastic! What a fast course with some really tricky stuff attached!

I see from some of those pics that you had a GoPro camera on the wind shield. Did you get any footage of your laps?

Default Spa Francorchamps RMA day

Well, all I can say about this track is it is quite fast and sure does give you a run for your money. To me I would say it is Mosport, but in greater quantities in some way. I am not sure if that makes sense, but here you go....

I am pretty sure it is 4.3 miles. The tricky part is the collection of turn 2, 3 and 4. Here is what it looks like from the paddock area and in this picture you see turn 2 and 3, but not turn 4.

The problem is you don't see turn 4 until you are going through it.

First start with the below picture. You turn in from the right side of the track at the X and then brake a short distance where it says BRAKE, then go up the hill. Since the hill is quite steep you can easily brake in this little section, once you get the cajones for it. You can see where you generally apex going up the hill on the right.

Now check out this pic and notice that once you turn right the ground or for that matter, the track levels out. This is what makes the turn not seen until you are upon it. On the map it almost looks kinda straight.

Now look at the pic from the top of this turn looking in the opposite direction from before

Now look when I step back a little bit and notice how the course starts to dissapear.

This picture was taken where the billboards are on the outside of the turn.

Notice in this pic the skid marks. This is generally the direction you go when you come over the crest with your front end light and try to correct when you did not take it correctly.

I am told by Dale of RSR that this turn eats the most 911's of any turn due to its complexities. Fortune has it I was not on the menu. You have the left, then the right, then you go over this crest which is just the track leveling out, making your front end light and if you try to correct in a panic for the lefthander over the crest you get into trouble. I never found out if this was a mechanical or not, but I assumed this was someone going off and was tire smoke.

This is turn 8

This is turn 10 and 11 taken like Mosport 2 A & B, double apex. It creates this super big turn as you can see from the photos. The pics are supposed to stitch together in theory from left to right.

This is turn 17

As you can tell from the photos there was a "track Walk" in the morning, which was more like a caravan of cars stopping at specific corners. The elevation changes at this track were also quite dramatic.

I was signed up for Tuesday at the event, but spent Monday there just hanging out and looking around. Towards the end of the Monday my car somehow appeared out on the track due to Buttons123. Maybe he wants to tell others how he helped me crash my second track event in Europe.

Here he is out on track

There was a considerable amount of money in machinery here also, and fast machinery at that. You could tell those who knew this track well as they were flying.

Yes it did make it out on track

I did not see it, but was told this 959 was out on track also

Two Ferraris wrecked at the event, but not sure which ones, both were fairly nasty.

Well, bad news about that. I had it all set up and I think the battery died on me. I was so pissed! It was on my last day there and I was laying down some pretty good times. I was going to use it to time myself BTG. I was also looking forward to getting some good still pics from the video. Oh well, if that is the worst thing that happens...

Hey, not sure when I will get the car in the states. However, you can be sure that as soon as I get it, the GT3 will replace the Boxster in a heartbeat! In any event in August I am doing WG and maybe a Thunderbolt thrown in for good measure. Next week is Mosport. Hope to see you soon and hope you had a good time at Tbolt this past weekend.

WOW oh WOW!!

You were in some serious company!
Seems like the Europeans take this to a whole new level than us Americans!

Track walks/van arounds do give a whole new perspective of a track!
Done it at Barber, and when you stop and look around, elevations, camber etc take on a whole new perspective!!

Thanks for all the great stuff!!!

Ahhhhhh Spa, Gods own race track! Nice Eau Rouge analysis, the reason it eats 911s is the camber and elevation changes play with weight transfer in a unique way which, with an engine out back, can bite you really quickly... The other problem is the talk of "taking Eau Rouge flat" which isn't actually possible in most cars but gets talked about a lot. The rule to not crash is if it gets out of shape in the middle then straighten it out and run the nice flat curbs rather than try to save it and get spat into the barrier. There is a crash there every day cars run at the circuit.

That's happened to me a number of times, the battery life is very short. I can't seem to say it enough, you're really living the dream.
