How are the tires holding up with the stock street alignment, and the track time? The front wheels look like making the tires take a beating on the outside edges.

Regular PET at dealer has not been updated either.
I am guessing you were a mailman in a previous life. Rain, snow, sleat, whatever, you always come through!

Wow, now that is a compliment! Many thanks for that. I am quite honored. I feel it is important for you guys to know just how much fun a trip like this is. Separate picking up your own GT3 for a minute. I do not know how to make you guys realize just how awesome the Nurburgring Nordschleife is. Think about this, the track is some 13 or 14 miles long, has some 72 turns! Where else can you get that! You will come to here and wonder how you thought Watkins Glen was what it is all about. I do love The Glen, but everything is in the shadows of this track! It takes time to get to know the track, no doubt. But when you do it is just spectacular! What a trip! So get over here and rent a track prepped car (not a Hertz rental) that you can bring on the track and live the dream my friends!

Tires are holding up fairly well. Don't forget that your first 2 days are usually taken at a reasonable rate, if you plan on taking your car home with you! Do you have experience with these tires? I do not. I would say I have about 60 or more laps under my belt at the Ring.

I caught the Ring Worm as Jeremy Clarkson called in in the TopGear
article they did when he took a diesel Jag around it) back in 2001 and have
been going back at least once a year ever since ... again in 3 weeks time
for the BMW School (places available)

It is truly unique ...

Rentaracecar.de and others in the area have some nice cars but it's pricey,
better to combine with Euro delivery of a car instead ...

In previous years I *might* have "known" certain people, that did in
fact rent Porsche's from Avis and took them on the Ring ... but they have
really clamped down on that now ...

So I answered to the guy that the plate was for the registration and he was satisfied with that. The license plate issue never came up again. That was a close one, but I think the guy just didn’t know what the plate was. You can see by the photo below where cars are coming in and out. I was heading to the right where I got stopped.
Uugh that is BAD news ... sounds like they are getting sensitive about the euro del plates again ... gulp gulp gulp ...

Hit 191 mph today. I am going to try again tomorrow to find the elusive 194 mph claimed by Porsche. Things have to be just right to be able to do this speed on the Autobahn, ie good straight section, 3 lanes, little traffic to pass, etc. Am trying to figure out how to get my GoPro camera set up to take a pic of the dash. You can set it up to take a pic every 2 seconds, but must figure out how to secure it.

Went back to Stuttgart today to revisit the Muesum. You can spend hours there! Went to Weissach to see what was all there. Obviously go the, "No, we do not have tours here" answer in a tough accent at the gate, LOL. Also got a, "No Pictures here please" but I took what I could anyway! Will post pics tomorrow.

By the way, is the Panamera released in Europe yet? The Weissach wizzards are all driving them over there. I could not believe all the Panameras leaving their parking lot today! I also saw two in town pulling trailers, wondering what that was all about?!

While back at the factory I asked a bunch of factory workers to sign the inside of my front trunk. They were tickled pink that I asked them to do it. I thought it would be pretty cool to have some of the guys who make the car actually sign it. While at Weissach in the parking lot there I asked one of those guys to sign it also.

Hey Larry, I don't think it was a problem. I think the one guy just did not know what the plate was from. I was only stopped the one out of 40 public time runs. It just was such a coincidence that it was my first time out.

I hope so, there was a lot of controversy about this late '06/'07 ... technically
I think (as I perhaps mis-recall the rules on the big sign next to the ticket
office) it precludes these plates ...

having said that I never had any trouble back in '07 ...

Hey, where did you get the RingCard ... from the ticket office?

have fun!

The Ring Card is the only way to now get on the Nordschleife. You buy your laps in advance, they get put on your Ring Card (same size as a credit card) and when you go out you place the card against the toll booth which deducts your laps. They should have put a feature on it that shows you how many laps you have left when you go through the gate

kewl ... the old style ticker readers used to tell you how many laps you had left just before it gave
your card back to you ... or consume it if none ... they also used to have this cool wristband for the
1/2 year and year "all you can eat" options ...

shame ...

So ... what are your bridge-to-gantry times like then?

Have a beer for me in der pistenklause and say hello to Ed!
