Right across the street from the Museum is Porsche Centre. It is a dealership where you can buy a car and service. I got the impression that it was just like any dealership you would find here. There was also a section to purchase Porsche related items like jackets and stuff. I also purchased a Euro license plate holder from them with their name on it, just like you would get in the states. I also have one from Cape Town, South Africa when I was down there last year.

I got such a kick out of meeting this guy. Apparently he was the local happy drunk at a bar we stopped at. He tried to talk to us and we did not speak German and he did not speak English. This did not stop him from continuing to talk to us. He got a big charge out of me wanting to take pictures of him. When we told the waitress that we could not understand him she told us at times even she cannot understand him. At least he looked happy!

Here is a picture of a mountain pass we went through. This was one of the few, if only one, that we had to pay to go through. This picture is pretty crappy and I now regret not taking more pictures of the mountain passes we went through. I guess I was too focused on the car at the time!

Here are just some more misc pics of the car. The one below was when the Ring was closed due to an accident and we were just waiting for it to open back up.
This is a picture of all the signatures I got from the factory workers. The top central sig is the guy who delivered the car to me. Sabine is on the top right, and all the rest are the factory worker signatures.
This is another picture of me on the Ring.
I liked this picture of the Autobahn. I thought the addition of the airplane was appropriate as I was truly flying on the autobahn as you guys may have remembered (201)

Great thread, Mike! Cool to meet you at the Ring, and as you will see in the report of my first lap on the Ring (in your car, thank you again), this place is a must do.
Think about driving there some time. It's a blast, but get some quality instruction. There were about a dozen incidents of bent metal and several cars were totaled on Sunday. There was even some car-to-car contact, which is crazy for a track day. All that, and the track was dry and the weather almost perfect. (I did have some increased drift in a few turns when there was just a bit of a shower--the concrete there, as everywhere, gets slick when damp.)

It was great to meet you also! I totally enjoyed your report of your experience. You went quite in depth with it and I find it enjoyable to relive the experience. I am sure you will have fun with the BMW club. I am expecting a thorough report and photos from you! I have to figure out what my strategy is for getting back to the Ring next year. I am currently considering keeping the Boxster S for another year and shiping it over there for a while.
In any event, we must hook up back here on the East Coast when the time works!

This is a statue/monument near the entrance to the Nordschleife
This is a typical Nurgburgring picture! You can get rain and sun all in one shot. The Eiffel Mountains are absolutely crazy with the weather! You will just never know what to expect! The Nordschleife is on the left behind the fence.
This proves that even Mother Nature loves the Nurburgring as she is sharing a rainbow with the drivers! The entrance to the Nordschleife is near the red building.
