But for what it's worth I can say that in my short search for a 997.2 MT coupe, 42k miles for $40k sounds like a very good, very fair price. If the PPI came back clean, and it's a no accident car, then I'd certainly buy it.
I paid $45,500 for a manual C4 997.2 with 32k miles last year, private party. I considered it to be a very good deal. I skipped the PPI as the seller was a friend of a friend and had all records from day 1.

This car sold that day and before I could get to it. Local buyer swooped in. It was all black but not full leather, exec owned, originally on ebay then taken down pre-auction end. This was not my 'dream car' but a very fungible 911 to drive while waiting for the right one.

This same car is now for sale in the marketplace for $10k above the PCA listing with new wheels that IMHO are one size too big... Another dealer flip.

Another dealer 'flip' = disgusting. Just parasites adding no value to either sellers or buyers.

It's starting to get old and frankly happening way too often. PCA / Rennlist / ETC exist to be enthusiast channels, not dealership clearinghouses.

The old adage - "when you buy the car you're buying the previous owner" comes in strong with this one.

A guy that doesn't love the car, doesn't know the car and only sees it as an opportunity to make profit is easy to walk away from.

I purchased that Car for 35k, but it needed the $5k that I put into it. So I still feel like i paid $40k for it.

I like the seller - he still has the ad up in several locations. It's a bit of force against the guys trying to sell their base or S's for 60k +

991s are really starting to be competitive if you can get past the rear end.

997.2 buyers - looking around cargurus and some other sites, I am beginning to question the idea of how much buying pressure there is right now. Yes, there is competition for properly priced 997.2s such as the 40k mile, all black base with 6M/T that went for $40k. Or the white S that went for $35. But in general, what I am seeing is a lot of 'fair priced, good price and even great price' 911s spending 1,2 3 and even 6 months + up for sale. Some overpriced cars going up to a year or more. Even with desirable options and colors and the overpricing within 'negotiating range'.

My conclusion - asking prices (even when fair or better) are too high and the CarGurus algorithm and pricing mechanism is seriously out of market reality.

Def great deals to be had on black and silver cars, especially base spec with PDK.

I wish more folks who are subscribed on this thread would participate and not just lurk. If you don't want to post findings in your area then at least post an ad from different location to help others in here who are searching for the right 997. There are tons of subscribers but only a handful ever post.

So since I've made a purchase but still like to watch what you guys post and the market, you're saying I should unsubscribe?

I'm sure many are doing the same, even if they've not made a purchase. This may be the way they shop.

I'm sure folks will share if / when they find something worthy.

I never said anything about unsubscribing, I'm saying so many subscribers in here but I only see a handful post. It would be a much better place to shop if EVERYONE participate and post.

Here's a beautiful 997.2 Turbo with some minor performance mods, not unfair at $77,500, and it looks very nice! No association with the car or seller, but if the weather's nice I will go preview it for a serious buyer.
