Do people not sell seal gray cars? Or even nice cars for a fair price?
Same man, finding cars with nice options (adaptive, sport chrono, manual) and are clean seems to be tough. I have found a few but they want top dollar. I thought my budget of $70-$74k should of pulled something clean by now. I'll just wait for the right car to pop up, nothing worse than overpaying.

No affiliation, but there is a white 997.2 2009 at Grand Prix in Portland at ~40K. I have a potential lead on a 2011 turbo, so this doesn't interest me, but it's a 3.6, with PDK, PASM, about 100K miles, on their site, autotraders, and seattle craigslist. The carfax may show some issues, like it's about on it's 4th sale, and there was rear end damage, which the dealer rep says was just a new bumper. If it were an S or with cleaner carfax, or more sport options, I'd probably be very interested.

Default bearing issues with 2007 built 997.1s ?

Did the 2007 built 997's still have potential bearing issues?

Too bad...I love the car! (except late 07 build date, so no update coolant line sealant).

I do not believe they suffer from this.

My recently traded in 2010 TT Cab PDK is listed by the dealership at $78,400 (gasp!), as a CPO car with 2-yr unlimited mileage warranty and a new set of tires.

Do your due diligence with any car from Gran Prix. That place is less than forthcoming with respect to the condition of their cars.

Here is a clean looking 997.2 Targa with 30k miles for $52k in the classifieds. https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...-on-black.html

Looks like a decent deal... too bad it isn't a 6-speed or I would have called on it.

I agree with comments here about finding a reasonably priced car with no stories. In 2015 I purchased a no stories (not a garage queen, but no accidents and all documented service) 2009 base 6-speed with 60k miles for just under $40k, I sold it a year later for roughly the same amount and thought I would be able to find a better optioned lower mileage 'keeper' within a 6-12 months... its been nearly 24 months and prices seem to have gone up and its getting harder and harder to find a no stories car. Supply/demand is not in a buyers favor right now.

All M96 and M97 motors can have IMS bearing issues. Only 997.2 (2009+) 9A1 motors are immune.

'06-'08 failures are so low they are not worth worrying about and should not prevent you from buying a good car.

Agree.

I believe this issue is blown WAY out of proportion on this site. Perhaps because we are enthusiasts.

My local dealer has never seen this failure.

The later 997.1's can, but much, much less common.

Base 997.2 6spd with under 50k miles. The price seems like a decent starting point for negotiations. I haven't called or done any further due diligence on the car, but it looks pretty clean in case somebody was interested. I do wonder how it ended up at a Ford dealer (ie what the trade was for).
