I agree, I think they may take off but I am really only trying to spend $70K and I feel like I should get a really clean example at that number.

Agreed, but it seems most people don't care if something sits for 6 months for sale.. when I'm a real buyer.

For reference regarding 997.2TT pricing. I recently sold my 2010 Turbo Coupe, PDK, SC+, PTV, PCCB for $83k ($163k MSRP). It was near mint with 37K miles and four months left on the CPO. I advertised it on Rennlist and 6SpeedOnline with an asking price of $87.5K. I lowered it each week about $1,5k until I found it a buyer. I wasn't in a rush to sell, but I also didn't want to drag it out for months. I know it was just one car in the marketplace, but it seems to represent the current market. It was my first non air cooled Porsche and my first Turbo. I really enjoyed it, however it was more car than I really needed. I just bought an '08 Carrera 2S and will enjoy that for awhile. I think the 997 line, both .1 and .2 are really fantastic cars!

Last summer $70K would definitely buy you a decent 997.1 Turbo manual coupe... Under 40K miles, no significant cosmetic defects. I looked at several nice cars and passed on the nicest primarily because I wasn't in love with the idea of getting the identical color combo to my current Arctic Silver over Black 996 Turbo.

Right now, nice $70K .1 Turbo Coupes in manual aren't so easy to find, but that is my price expectation as well...

At over $75K, I'd likely just go to a turbo (not Turbo) 2017 991.2 base and tweak the tuning and turbos to about 500 HP on a much newer, more modern car. Albeit not a Mezger....

I found an awesome 2008 997.1 with PCCB's, Sport Chrono, 6MT, Low 20's for miles, sport seats, etc. But the dealer wants 86K ish

Too bad...I love the car! (except late 07 build date, so no update coolant line sealant).

I have noticed this too. Basically all of the PCA classifieds cars are like this. Asking over dealer retail for their cars.

Keep an eye on it. That car shouldn't sell for that price. Should be closer to $75-80k. If you like it, send them an offer for what you are comfortable paying and when it isnt selling for a month they might give you a call. Wouldnt let the coolant lines stop you when the failure can happen on any car. Just budget in $5k or so to do coolant pipes and cam pinning if you decide to go all out like I would with preventative maintenance when the engine is dropped.

How is tunability on the new models?

A few companies have just cracked the 991.2 ecu's.... Fabspeed and GIAC for example. Both require sending in the ECU. Hopefully Cobb or others will have a OBDII port loaded tune soon.

The key engine difference between the base, S, and GTS are the specific turbos and the tune. You can buy the GTS turbo's (powerkit) for around $7K, and the Fabspeed tune is about $2K, so for less than $10K, you should be able to take a stock base 991.2 3.0 turbo from a factory 370 HP to ~ 525 HP with nothing more than bolt on turbos and a tune.

Early days though... Things will develop and refine over the coming months.

Accident on the Carfax. Still a solid price if it checks out.
