I would’ve just tried to snap off the nut intentionally and punch them out. Was it that bad?
That is what happened, when I tried taking off the nuts they were so rusted seized the 3 bolts snapped in half. So I had to drill, dremel, and punch them out.
The first 2 took a couple of hours each after a day of settling with PB blaster, the 3rd one was a nightmare.
Oh, I guess punching them out isn’t as easy as I would have expected. Glad I decided not to mess with mine when I was replacing the other bolts during my water pump replacement.
Yesterday, I drove my old 997.1 (loaned back to me by the guy I sold it to) across the closed runway at Kaneohe Marine Corp base on Oahu.
Tooled around on some taxiways, found the EOD shop and spun it around a dozen times on the compass rose (where maintenance troops "swing" the aircraft "Whiskey" magnetic compass* using a calibration procedure). Found a cool hidden beach as a backdrop, as well.
