couple weeks ago, also cleaned out my radiators and replaced the radiator fans. pretty confusing but I managed to remove the fans without removing the actual radiator, avoiding the need to drain the coolant. took me an entire day, most of the time just staring at the thing and trying to figure out how to do it. decided to document it so i knew how to put everything back together:
Thanks for documenting this. How much did the fans cost you? I'm guessing that they were seized?

It was about 577 before taxes and shipping from pelican parts. not sure if seized or just burned out, but they weren't spinning.

long story short, i think the fans burned out because of a bad thermostat i had. the car was trying to compensate and eventually the fans couldn't take it anymore.

^^^^nice. You have had so many 997s and so many porsches in general, you must have a formula of mods that are worth it and not worth it. What is the best set up from all the 997s you've had?

Best:
-Full Leather
-Black Gauge Faces (Old school 356/911)
-Short Shift Kit
-PSE or my favorite and on this car are the Fister PSE Sound Sport Mufler's
-H&R Springs
-Bluetooth enabled (Thx Kellen)

^^That's my go to list. Also, for the life of my I cannot tell the difference in HP between the "S" and "Non S" engine. Brakes I can tell tiny bot of difference w/"S" brakes.

Good question---> Never. Always H&R's. Not sure if the Eibach Springs allow full function of the PASM which the H&R's do.

Which SSK do you have? That's something I'd like to do in the spring..

Which one you have in your current car?

Got confused--->Had to back pedal & correct above post - My car has Function First Short shift kit as did 3 previous 997's.
Previous owner told me it was factory but incorrect.
Function First has always been a solid kit and makes big difference in amount of throw needed

Also, anyone wanting the PSE sound exhaust which is my favorite option, I have had Gundo Hack on 2 of my past 997's and factory PSE on 2.
Gundo Hack is ok and sort of throaty but my new to me C4 has Fister Sport Mufflers. They extremely to PSE and pretty much the same with the nice throaty sound.

I also never understood why the PSE from factory has an on-off switch? I never turned them off, don't know anyone who turns them off and they are not super noisy for those that live in condos/apts and sound an issue.

Groove, I drove the non-S and S back to back. IDK if it is just subjective but the 3.6 seemed more punchy and frenetic than the 3.8. The 3.8 seemed more docile in traffic. The 3.6 seemed like the 3.8 with sport mode always on to me. Without traffic at speed, I cannot tell the HP/TQ difference but maybe someone who lived with both could.

NYDog, I had Eibachs. They aren't as low as the H&R. They mimic the OEM stance to my eye, which has a bit of rake. They seem to allow PASM to work normally from my experience but I would say the spring rates are a little soft for the shocks/ride height. I scraped more with OEM shocks and Eibachs than I do with the OEM GT3 coilovers set to the track specs., which is lower than Eibachs.

Here are 2 pics. in the same parking spot from close to the same angle. The first pic. is with the GT3 suspension and wheels. The second pic. is with the Eibachs, C2S PASM shocks, and Lobster FORKS.
The reason I am posting is because you might be able to see the difference in stance. The weird thing is that I scraped more with the Eibachs on my daily commute.

OEM GT3 Wheels/Coilovers

Eibach/C2S PASM shocks/Lobster FORKS

jamesinger I can never notice difference between 3.6 & 3.8. And only tiny difference in the larger S brakes.
I love the black face gauges - No idea why Porsche started using the white face in S cars. To me stupid/ugly.
Happy Holidays!
