Enjoyed the long way to work this morning, enjoyed to mist and low rolling fog. The early morning light inking into the shadows and glistening on the damp roads as the angry roar of I snaked my way through the fields of tall corn. Best part, I get to do it again on my way home in about an hour.

1/8" Wide Painters Tape

The first time I masked it with lots and lots of small pieces of 1" wide tape and then waited for it to dry and then pulled it all off, basically if pulled all the plasti dip off and looked terrible. It took an hour to tape it, and another hour to untape it... and looked terrible. The second time around I did the entire thing in less than an hour and it looked better and was easier to tape.

So helpful, @Skube . Your direction is clear and hugely appreciated. I've got the plasti dip and just ordered the tape. Quick question: Did you pull off the 1" tape and plastic once the ⅛" inch tape came off? Meaning: Right away. Or did you wait?

Thx!

Bob, I waited, let it dry because I was concerned about dropping or dragging something through the wet paint, I just took off enough to leave a nice wet but clean edge.

When I applied the 1/8" wide tape I went over it a few times with my finger nail to make sure it was in place, and then left tabs on the end of the 1/8" tape so I could pull it off in the end quickly, I think I used 3 continuous pieces, but it could be done with one. That 1/8" wide tape was the key to my success!

@Skube , that's exactly what I needed to know. Many thanks.

Btw, I was an Annapolitan for some time. I liked living in MD.

OTS map from Cobb on my 997.1tt. Still holding out hope that they'll grant me access to their pro software.

looks killer

the black valence is a no-brainer for all 997.2 carrera rear bumpers + that 992 emblem just looks too good!

this is awesome - great to see.

i hate the fact that the 997 porsches don't have a switched usb power outlet, thankfully its an easy fix and simple to do overall.

Special thanks to my son, too, who applied his usual 'Do it right' attitude that included using a rubber grommet on the hole we drilled into the cubby...doing so gives it a nice finished look (for those who peer into cubbies...) and, more importantly, serves as a terrific device to prevent the lightening cord from ever being accidentally pushed back behind the center stack.

Cheers, gentlemen, and thank you!

Bob

We found routing the lightening cord was best done from the side and toward the back of the cubby to keep things discreet.

The rubber grommet just makes a simple hack a bit more elegant. It's a PITA to find the right size and then get it in place, but it was well worth the effort, IMO.

Not a great shot but now fully integrated with the Rennline phone bracket.
