All depends on how you want to slice it!
Actually, the 991 based speedster is only available with a manual transition, with no PDK option available. It was the 991.1 GT3 that was PDK only.

Not sure why you’re talking about 991s in a 997 thread (and in response to my 997.2-specific post!).

This generation of Speedster was only offered with the seven-speed PDK transmission, no manual was available from Porsche.”

The GTS does have a certain amount of exclusivity. There was a limited production (sort of) but there is more to it than that. It looks better that its non GTS counterparts. Different nose, rear bumper cover, side skirts. They tend to be more highly optioned and have a much better resale value. If you want a manual car, there were less than 550 imported to the US market. While not Speedster and Sport Classic rare, it gets you 95% of the way there without a number on the dash for pennies on the dollar. In fact, it's a Speedster or Sport Classic you can actually drive. Prices are high but the market has spoken. The beautiful part is, I get to own one, put a sh*tload of miles on it, then sell it for likely more than I paid. What a wonderful car!

Thankfully I bought my GTS before the market went stupid though after it had bottomed and was starting to creep back up (Nov '19). When I bought mine, the delta between a GTS and a similarly equipped S or 4S wasn't that great. I bought a GTS for the same reason I bought my Boxster GTS. If you were looking for a certain spec'd car, it was easier to find it in a GTS. If you wanted Sport Chrono, Adaptive sport seats, full leather, etc. it was more difficult finding all that in an S or 4S. Looking at well cared for, low mileage examples, with the right spec, a GTS wasn't much more. My times have changed.

Gotcha. I kind of forgot about the 997 based speedster since it didn't look as good as the 964 one that came before it or the 991 one that came after it. My mistake.

Let's be honest, and I own a C4GTS myself, no matter how you slice the cake neither is materially better than the non-GTS counterpart. I paid what I thought to be a dumb premium when I bought my car because all the nice stick 997.2's were slipping out of my hands. That premium has only widenend since. Sure the C2S vs. GTS has a slightly wider body but it doesn't come anywhere near justifying it's massive premium either.

That said, the market is free to act however it would like. We're in a day and age where an entry level steel Nautilus costs more than a Perpetual Calendar in precious metal.
Can't speak to the difference between a RWD GTS vs. a RWD C2S with powerkit since I never drove a C2S with powerkit. If you twisted my arm I would probably say that the difference in overall engine performance wouldn't be noticeable since you would have the same engine and hp between the two.

To me, what makes the big difference is RWD vs. AWD and not the 1.75" of extra rear body width or whatever the exact number is for the widebody. AWD vs. RWD is what changes the character of the 997 to a greater extent than the 1.75" wider a$$ and frankly, the just over 20hp bump from the powerkit is noticeable but only if you try hard to find it. At least to me. But I will say that the extra width of the widebody gives the car a different feel. Just a bit less than 2" wider than the narrowbody doesn't sound like much and it isn't but it can be felt.

Those additional near 2" with the engine weighing on it just seems to plant the rear even firmer than the already firm plant of the non NB. Subjective.....I know. Another opinion. That's all.

Nailed it right here. My journey for my first 911 started as a spec’d out 4S Cabrio 6-spd which I couldn’t find in my target price range from 2016-2020. When a 4GTS popped up at what I believed at the time was below market price, I scooped it up.

$90K, all day long.
$94.5K, all-in.

I bet it does better than that unless it's just a bad day at the auction. Has anyone looked at 6 speed C4S asking prices these days. Ryan Friedman is looking for manual GTS money for their examples. Mid to high 20k mileage cars are in the mid to high $80's. I bet it breaks $100K

I paid a big premium for my GTS in September.
No regrets as it was the spec I wanted.

Has anyone bought a car from Friedman? I’ve inquired about some cars, staff seem nice as do their cars.
