that is correct. And yes it would be great to have a clean setup.

Here’s to hoping that the PCCM+ utilizes the existing box for 997.2 owners and adds it in the exact same location for 997.1 owners. That’ll make it OEM clean for both generations through and through. Wireless CarPlay and we’re set.

I wish someone on this board knew someone inside the factory involved with this project to point them to this topic to read. This is invaluable market research with statements of "if it has X, I *will* buy it".

I certainly would like a self contained "clean" unit without the extra dongle box. I'm also looking for an upgrade as the 997.1 PCM units are showing their age. IMHO, the only thing that isn't aging for the better is the PCM unit. The factory can solve this elegantly. Or not by having external boxes which would reduce the appeal of their customer base. Why this would even be a design option at this time is beyond me.

IMHO

I don’t see anyone complaining about the potential price of the Porsche Classic unit in this thread. What I see is a very passionate group of 997 owners telling Porsche what they want. For most it would seem, integration is the key to them choosing PCCM over something else. The external mic and loss of the on board computer is a deal breaker for me personally.

Wireless CarPlay is something I’ve experienced recently. Not a deal breaker for me if I didn’t have it but it would seem just silly not to have it in this day and age. Porsche classic has an opportunity with the 997 PCCM Plus that they didn’t have with the previous units. Full integration… come on Porsche… you can do it!!!

If x and I will buy it.... well now..... that changes things.

Porsche: How about a unit that sounds good?

If it is another Becker system, um.... then no, it will not sound good.

Peace

I'm very excited about this. Is there a release date yet?

Currently they just said 2022. Hopefully spring 2022, so we can enjoy it throughout the year.

1. Sticky ***** are a must.
2. Put volume on the right, where it should be.
3. Walter Rohrl’s voice greets you and gives polite but firm critical analysis of your driving.
4. SIM slot repurposed as a mini dash cam photo dispenser.

I’ve got the backup thingie on mine and find it extremely useful navigating impossible Parisian parking garages f.i., but as the Gt3 front is almost impossible to know where it ends the option of adding a front camera would actually be of more use to me than a backup camera.
I’m still going to get the upgrade since the “newish” oem nav map kit price is a total joke and old maps useless. I dig the on dash guidance and looking down on the phone is not an option at autobahn speeds.

As we all do, pray for a well kept, slab sided vehicle that allows the "parking aid reflection" to be utilized!
There is nothing as deflating than riding a parking kerb.....

Curious if anyone has heard any updates on 997.1 availability of the PCCM plus this summer. Last I saw was 2022 at some point hopefully spring. Just wondering if anyone with inside info has gotten any updates?

For 2009 (997.2) generation of PCM, Porsche has a bit of a problem. The system decodes DVD-A 5.1 surround. This is not fakey stuff, but real multichannel. I wonder what they will or if they will do for us owners. Again, if it is just another piece of Becker electronics, then ... blech. However, I am disappointed our systems are not included in their current plan because our units are failing leaving owners kind of stranded.

I have some of these DVD A discs and they are pretty cool sounding.... If you can get your hands on Queen's Night at the Opera, it is a real treat. I suspect I am one of the very few people to actually play DVD A in our systems.... or even knew about it.

Peace

Agree. Right now, I have to burn the music from my iPhone onto CD.

Just get one of those FM blue tooth transmitters off Amazon for about $30 bucks to blue tooth from your phone thru an unused FM frequency; no need to burn CDs. Very easy and does a decent job while we wait for the more elegant OEM based solution.
