I want this. OEM looks the bomb and will be proper plug and play.

Meantime I've just got the Moment magsafe air vent thing.

For some reason, Porsche chose to make the MOST fiber optic and the USB/mini phone plug (i.e. AUX) connectivity as a separate break-out box on the 996 version. (see pic)

Is this outlet not always hot like it is on the 997.1? If it is, I would be concerned about the charger causing a parasitic drain.

I do like the mount though! I ran a wireless charger to the bottom cubby and have an aftermarket head unit with wireless carplay. When using both together, the phone overheats after about an hour. I may need to move the location of the wireless charger to somewhere similar to yours with more airflow.

Got it, thanks. Guess I'd have to throw out my CDs as well.

Thanks for that b3.

If we are absolutely required to have this box, I hope Porsche makes the wire long enough to fit in either the glove box or center console storage so it’s hidden (which would then all but require wireless CarPlay streaming).

We love our OEM look, we know Porsche does too, and this box deviates from that philosophy.

But the ability to reuse factory mic and gps would be very useful, in addition to all the other useless functions PCM2.1 had. Given that I’m already pampered with wireless CarPlay and multifunction controls, I don’t think I’ll be shopping for a replacement anytime soon..
Even Hyundai had wireless Carplay.

Porsche made some odd choices. Our PCM3 in my 2009 C2S plays 5.1 DVD A. Who does that? It sounds fabulous if you get the disks. Try Queen's Night at the Opera in DVD A 5.1 WOW!!!! So Porsche chose some advanced stuff few use and left out the common.

Peace

I haven’t noticed any issues.

I figured that as long as a phone isn’t on it there won’t be any drain.

I did run a wire that is ignition on with Cig Lighter from the fuse block to my Bluetooth connection in the center armrest. I could run a cig lighter splitter off to this.

Which MagSafe did you use?
Was it this one? https://www.spigen.com/collections/k...32937854566447
I have the Rennline mount and was thinking of doing a similiar conversion.

My bad, it’s a Spiegel mount.

This one https://getspiegel.com/products/wireless-car-charger

I would buy direct from them because they had a 1st Gen they updated a month after release.

The 2nd Revision has double the magnet strength.

The one I have (2nd Revision) has super strong magnets and the phone will not come off unintentionally.

Here's my current setup:

Using a Rennline phone mount and a Magsafe charger I found on Instagram. Looks good but I'll switch to the PCCM+ the minute it becomes available!

Hi Axel,

Yes that’s true for 997.2 owners… but 997.1 owners do not have the USB box in the armrest storage. Here’s to hoping that the PCCM+ utilizes the existing box for 997.2 owners and adds it in the exact same location for 997.1 owners. That’ll make it OEM clean for both generations through and through. Wireless CarPlay and we’re set.
