That car had a pretty undesirable color interior as well, and if you read the comments it sold for under market for some reason. I'll probably list it for $79K. Several on car gurus for 80-95k. I don't care if it sits. Most cars don't have maintenance up to date it seems and finding these in good condition is getting harder.

High 60s sounds reasonable. Maybe low 70s if you wait forever for the right buyer. It is a 2001. Would be more desirable if 02+

Im with you on this. Unmodified and well maintained 996 Turbos will only get scarcer and scarcer; and exponentially so. Plus BaT is unreasonably harsh to the 996 Mezgers for some inexplicable reason IMO.

It only takes one person, so do whatever. I don't think it sells at or near 79 though. Another way to look at it is that, in the entire history of BAT, there has been exactly one non-X50, non-S 996tt that has sold for over 75k, and it was a rare color (SY) with only 6k miles.

I would say $68k is a good number from what I'm seeing. That being said I wouldn't sell my 04 with 20k miles for that much. Forget about BaT, guys bid like drunken sailors sometimes then you have to pay the buyers fee.

01 AFAIK is lighter than 02-05 and even 997T. Plus it doesn’t have the disaster MOST fiber bus. 01 has some benefits if you look for them.

Pretty car, sure it will bring strong money even if not $79K strong. BaT will likely bring the strongest possible dollars for a nice low mileage 996 Turbo, but don't expect them to put a huge $75K reserve on it. Thats just not how they operate... They will want a reserve that ensures it sells, especially from a private individual vs. dealer who brings lots of cars their way.

My guess is that in 3-5 years, $79K will seem like a steal for a car like this, but the market isn't really there today.

I personally put zero additional value on "more desirable 2002+" and little additional value on an X50 or even a Turbo S car vs. a well sorted, beautiful condition one like yours, but that's because I'm a driver, not a collector. And if you want 'collector' money for it, it has to be collector trendy.

I can't believe the price on that Ruf. Maybe if it were a coupe with a manual... who puts buckets and a roll cage on a tip cab? Is a Ruf VIN just automatically over a 3x modifier?

02+ MOST is not an issue, most change everything out. 02+ gets better cup holders, a glove box, supposed stiffer points (hence maybe a little more weight, but who really knows). I'd rather the newest one you can get. 02+

Yes, for a driver especially, an 02+ is nicer for the amenities of a cup holder that works (2!) and a glovebox.

Appreciate the comments guys. If you think about BAT the one that sold for $75K really sold for 5% more due to premium so that sold for nearly $79k. I think I'll list around there and see what it does. I have a friend that is going to professionally photograph it and I'll stick it on Car Gurus and Autotrader I think.

I realize it's my car so I'm a little jaded here it's just I rarely see cars in this condition that don't need any maintenance work etc. It still smells new inside.

I'd never sell it for $68K. I'd just hold it for a year or two when these are 85k+. I really enjoy driving this car and I will be sad when it leaves my garage.

The stiffeners started on 1/1/2001 according to PET so most 2001's will have them. IMO the biggest deal is the gearbox shimming on the '03 and newer VS. the increased potential for 2nd gear pop on the older cars.

I wouldn't sell for anything under $75k if this were mine. Color combo, condition, maintenance history, etc. are far more important imo than whether it's an '01-05. At least that's what mattered to me when I sold my 997.2 Turbo for the 996. Cup holders and glove compartment, lol.
