Speaking of tires; I noticed my rears are significantly worn compared to my fronts. Not quite ready for replacement and I don't drive that much but at what point is the outer diameter delta a concern for the front diff? The fronts look nearly new, deep tread.
I typically go through two pairs of rears for every pair of fronts on my Turbos...
Same here. Always has been a two to one set ratio rears to fronts. I just found a new brand ( new to me? ) called Kenda(??) and in 335/30/18 $509.00 a pair delivered. I just posted a thread asking if anyone knows anything about them or the brand "Kenda". Could use some advice if anyone has any experience or has even heard of them before. I'm pretty current re availability of tires for our 12" wheels. These were "new" to me today and I need rears soon to go with new fronts.
So are my LED taillights! Is that necessarily a "bad" thing? I can't see how these days. All the "old" usual disdain for Asian made tires seems outdated. I just wish I could find ANY one that has tried the brand on cars like these.
Picked up a set of these 997TT headers for a pretty good price over the weekend. I want to port/polish them and get swaintech coatings on them.
Anyone got a material list for the bits/polishing wheels I'd need to do this? I came across some old threads from Kevin @ UMW but it wasn't exactly specific.
I'm a big Falken fan, they're Japanese, but they have a long history.
Any tyre manufacturer you can't find anyone who uses them, or anything on them as a company, are usually best to avoid.
Most certainly something I wouldn't trust the turbo on until there was a much bigger dataset around.
I first used Falken's back in mid 90's on a 993 and I hated them. I then tried again after hearing so many use them favorably once they introduced the 615's and have found them to be fine. Vastly different from their mid 1990's offerings. Looking at the specs and the tread patterns on this Zenda brand they seem comparable to other of the lesser priced options and to be honest I put "Falken's in that category. I'll keep digging around and if I can't get the Pirelli P Zeros I've used countless times at or near $375 a copy, then I think I will try these Zend'as rather than go again with RT615's on the rear. I have new Pirelli's ready to mount on the front so just deciding on the rears and happened upon this new to me brand "Zenda's". Though I do feel a bit too "old" to be experimenting with anything! I'm not driving as fast or pushing the car as I once did.
I'm pretty sure I could make it through one set even if I hate them which is basically this years driving season now starting. The last time I "experimented" with tires on my 911 though, I threw them away and immediately had them replaced, and had to even pay a "disposal fee" to my tire shop, adding insult to my mistake! We shall see.
I've been using Cerakote lately, it has the advantage of air curing, where Techline and others require an oven. Pretty happy with it, 1800f resistance.

No, Taiwan = quality.
Growing up, USA was best, Japan was starting to make crap stuff, now Japanese stuff is the best, and China is copying all of it with subpar results. Taiwan still speaks to being better made.

I think fundamentally this is accurate; we have had boards pinned and assembled in Taiwan for over four decades, their engineering is very good.
Not too sure how long Kenda has been around, I most certainly haven't heard of them until the other day, but tyres are a different beast, and without much knowledge out there about them, I would tread with caution.
