Still good after 6 years.
Same. Not six years ago, but mine has been rock solid, zero leaks, zero malfunctions since I did a bench bleed of the OE ram system.

I'm surprised more people don't try this easy and inexpensive repair before deciding the entire system needs replacement at $1,500 plus for an e-ram system or settling for a fixed wing. There are definitely failure modes that do warrant a complete replacement, but not all.

[QUOTE=TrillyPop;18177757]Trying out a new exhaust, installed it today. Went from 3" catless x-pipe to 3" catless straight pipes with helmholtz chambers. I'm amazed at how different it sounds. Much more "old school" like an air cooled car now. It's also a lot quieter and lost the rasp at high RPM at full throttle. I'm not sure if I like it yet, just went for a 15 min drive today so will give it a few days. The turbos seem to spool a touch faster, but otherwise no difference in butt dyno. Will get some logs this weekend to see if anything else changed.
Also switched over to a MAFless tune.
/QUOTE]

Can we see pics of the exhaust??? who's is it???

No idea who constructed this, it's a one-off. But the fit and weld quality is excellent. Saved a little extra weight compared to the x-pipe as well. Both pipes together weigh in at less than 20lbs.

I'm still a little conflicted about the sound. Having separate exhaust banks really makes it sound like an old air-cooled. It is deep and low pitched throughout the RPM band, and loses the "scream" at high RPM. It's a lot harder to judge the RPM of the engine by the sound as it just doesn't change as much. It's weird...I like it but I'm not completely sold on it. I'm sure a dyno showing a power increase would sell me. I'll have to take a decent video and upload it.

The sound you describe was one of my complaints about the straight pipes on my car. It sounded awesome, but something was still "off" about it. If you added in a 2" pipe between the two sides it should give you most of the sound benefits of an X-pipe, but not the flow restriction. I was going to do that to my old exhaust but wanted to quiet it down as much as possible so I went to 2.5".

Default 1700 miles from Cali to Katy Texas

Monday I flew to Ontario California to pick my car up in Riverside. Drove it home to Katy arrived Tuesday evening at 11:00 pm. Had a blast. Right at 1698 miles. Average speed was 69 mph. Average fuel economy was 24.4 mpg. Up till just crossing in Texas I only could get 91 octane, the car felt it right away the first time I found shell v power 93. The car has larger turbos and the agency power Inter cooler set up. Yes I have a short shifter, don’t know who’s but it feels amazing. Two memorable experiences, after leaving El Paso Texas in a border patrol protection check point after I answered that I was a us citizen the officer asked me if the car was a 911, i said yes sir, 03 turbo “ the officer said not much traffic let it rip “, I took off like a bat out of hell all the way to 150 mph. In San Antonio a loud newer mustang GT wanted to race me, we were side by side and decided to go , I smoked him all the way to 140. I started unpacking everything today. Will be putting the headers and exhaust on the car as soon as I schedule with my mechanic, I was already told that the agency power airbox is no good, so I’ll just get a kn pane filter. I also topped the oil was a little lower than i liked.

Got all of this from the previous owner. The other set of wheels are on their way, I do like the turbo hollows better, tires are n2 new.

At a gas station in the California desert.

General wings with a few IPAs in Tucson Arizona.

Proper introduction of the wide as? To the breast store.

Parts where traveling with me.

This had to be the test, doing at least 85 mph in 110-115 temp. This was it for over 6 hours.

My parts garage. The ipd plenum will be installed in the 99.

Morning inspiration. Dreams do come true everything is possible if you work your *** off.

Damn, I am in SATX. Could have linked up fir a beer before the last push. Looks like a beautiful car. Steve Ott at Drivers Source is a great place to work on the TT if you need a reputable spot.

Any DIY links or parts links so I can attempt this?

Nice car. Don't use the K&N filter, it does not filter as good as stock and will ruin the MAF. The stock paper filter's good for way more HP than the stock engine can be made to produce. If you want to talk to a tuner you can't go wrong with Kevin, Sambo, or Markski. Ask them about your goals before you start installing parts, and pick whichever agrees with your final vision.

The K&N debacle is a tale as old as time. I've never had any issues w/ them. Been using since I'm driving. All the P cars have em. Fouled MAFS are usually (mostly) user error. But yes, they won't filter like paper.

That's not a vacation, at least in my eyes. The one good thing is there's no way I can take my work with me, so when I'm out of the office, that's it. However it definitely limits my options, if I could work off a laptop anywhere in the world I'd have far more flexibility to go disappear several weeks in a row on my dirt bike and still be able to get stuff done/get paid.

You could set up a mobile practice in your Land Cruiser....

congrats on the acquisition... that exhaust looks like fabspeed, is there any branding on the headers? the oem intake with paper filter flows fine, as does the oem headers, the exhaust will be where you should get the most benefit...

Very nice! Do you modify the bumper cover for fitment? Could you please post pictures when you get the bumper cover back on?
