I lent my tt to a good friend to drive for a few days. We were talking some time ago and I asked him what his dream car was. He pointed to my car and said 'that is my dream car'. That car gives me so much joy. I wanted to share that with him by letting him drive it for 4 days. I get it back Saturday. Just the usual conditions, like getting it back the way I gave it to him. lol...
So my buddy texted me tonight thanking me again for letting him borrow his dream car. He said he hasput 200+ miles on in 2 days!! He also added that he had it up to 108 mph on rt 80 in Dirty Jersey, with his US Nationalized S.Korean wife of many years (and questionable intentions) (I can say that because she is not on the forum ... lol), and she was freaking out. I told him LOTS of people have Mustangs, Corvettes, Hellcats, and other contemporary 'sports cars' but you don't often see the king of the hill passing you at 100+ mph. Such a great car. Such a great feeling to share.... Giving is truly better than receiving.

your car is also my dream car, can i have the keys for a few days? lol
I installed a PCCM+. Unfortunately, my parts guy sent me the retaining bar and center support for a .2 car so I borrowed a couple parts from the Boxster until the correct parts arrive.
It was a little bit more challenging to install it in this car vs the Boxster, which is an ‘04 550 SE so it has a MOST system. That was plug and play with a MOST converter box. Plug it all in and it works! The Turbo was a regular old non-Bose car so I had to remove a wire from the plug and ground a pin at the amp and change the volume setting on the radio, but it is all working now!
I want to convert this car to a .2 vent/cup holder setup but the cup holder cartridge and the vent piece itself are back ordered until February. We’ll see how it turns out and what parts become available when. I could always hunt on eBay for a vent and a cup holder! Here is how it sits now, which was just to get it going again so I could drive it without dangling switches and stuff.

looks great, do you have the part number for that vent and cup holder? i'd like to upgrade my '01 when i put in the new radio.
Sorry for the mix of links there, I couldn't find everything at the same place.
You'll also need to do some creative trimming or bending or adjustment to the 996.1 in-dash vent tubing. It doesn't fit the 996.2 vent front-to-back, and it's too tall to fit over the retaining bar and cupholders. I am going to try something like trimming the center vent piece (the one that comes out, not the one in the dashboard) and removing a couple inches of length, then heating/bending/pushing it out of the way and shoving the cupholder in there, but I might need to do something a little more creative.
Unfortunately, Suncoast has the cupholder and center vent backordered for a couple months. I replaced the cupholder on the Boxster because the faceplate was broken, and then I was doing some garage cleaning and threw it away. It didn't occur to me I would need it for another car. Whoops!
I like your painted horse shoe, wish I had one for my car
That's from my Boxster Special Edition. (This picture is one I found on the internet, it is not from my car.) It has a painted gauge surround, horse shoe, and center console. I want to replicate this in my Turbo, too, because I really love it in the Boxster! I never would have bothered with it, or thought about spending money on something so purely cosmetic, until I got this car. It feels very special!
