I have not; I am operating under the assumption that its 18 years old and could probably benefit from being updated.

I recommend pressure testing at the intercooler inlets, not the air intake... There are quite a few phantom leaks you will end up chasing if you test at the airbox!

Chasing these leaks is super annoying.

Not a bad idea... I replaced mine, largely because the attachment clip broke off and as a preventative measure, but it's not a part that will 'degrade' in performance. It will either work or not work.

Very simple device, it's a 12V activated solenoid, but instead of switching current flow, it switches air flow.

Particularly if they are not real or relevant leaks... As others mentioned, the pre-turbo intake plumbing isn't pressurized under normal operating conditions nor is it designed to hold pressurized air. Pressure testing at the intake can have you chasing your tail for nothing.

That was why I was wondering if this was the reason my air pump codes were coming up, sporadically.

Yes, once I saw the picture of the engine I immediately got the futility of what was going on. What in fact irritates me more is jumping into all this work unexpectedly, at tax time no less, after such a stellar year...

I have been waiting for Falkens since January - no word on when they will arrive... However, if you live in Toronto and have a GT2, they appear to be more available...
