Any other hints and tips you can provide?

Did a little cleaning and took a short drive.
In two days she goes in for a new clutch (Sachs 2.5), exhaust (Speedtech X-pipe) and a few preventative items (water pump, t-stat, press. accum., slave cylinder).
I am very excited about the exhaust. It has been too quiet for too long. My NSX runs equal length headers, straight pipes and a loud exhaust. It can be heard for two miles. Ask 911-AL...
Looking forward to warmer days, summer tires and the ability to hold full boost again...

I ran the harness down the drivers side and it just barely reached. I ended up wrapping it in wire tubing to protect it from the sharp edges in the lower center console.
I read instructions that it needed to be pulled down the passenger side as thats where it originates but found that impossible.

Just ordered some new shoes! OZ Alleggerita HLT's in 18x8.5 ET40 and 18x12 ET 45...Same as 996 GT2 wheels. They are coming wrapped in 235 and 315 R888's. Can't wait.
Also, this week I'm installing a Numeric shifter, and buffing my headlights. I'd like to protect the headlights after I buff them...maybe I'll order some Lamin-X. Any expereience with that?

Got the shifter in last night, installation was pretty easy. Much improved over my last SSK, which had a lot of play in it.
Tonight, the wheels go on and I'll probably restore my headlights.

I am running the 997 SSK, and while expensive, I sometimes have a hell of a time shifting from 1-2 and 2-3 at very high (near redline) RPMS quickly. Also, downshifts are a bit of a pain and non-deterministic.
I think that the synchros in 1st gear are a bit wonky for me, so perhaps my problematic shifting is due to my tranny.
If I shift at "normal" ranges (i.e., between 3000 and 4000 rpm), there are no issues (except for the 1st gear issue).

Must say the difference is amazing. The car feels like it has lost 30kg at the rear, much more tied down feel with the car turning as a single instance. Really could not believe the difference. And there is no nasty vibrations. There is a little more noise but in a good way. Suddenly my standard exhaust sounds all aggressive at low revs, up to 3k then it changes to the smooth howl.
It does sound like a sports exhaust has been fitted. There is a little more mechanical noise in the cabin when stationary and at very low speeds but it is in no way unpleasant, infact it's a nice noise. Not noticed any vibration, infact a rattle in my door seems to have stopped. All in all no regrets so far. I'll give it a week of use as my daily and see how I feel but currently I'd say do it. So easy to fit it really is just the cost of the mounts and your time.

Had the complete undercarriage, brakes, suspension, etc. cleaned with a dry ice blasting machine. Since the car originally was owned down south ( Alabama, Georgia, NC, now FL), the cosmoline looked OK, but I preferred to have it removed. I like it.
