I bought the 3 kids a 92 Miata to play with, what a hoot! It's got dual exhaust, a roll bar and nice wheels, most fun you could ever have for $3500.

Watching F1 and tour de france... while designing rear hats for my car. Goal, 16lbs with hardware + rotor + hat. Net loss of 8 lbs over oem.

What was the total weight of the four wheels with tires and the plywood board?

My concern is that the total max load for the rack IIRC is 160lbs.

For sure, the fronts are just about finished. Coming out of anodizing. I'll post pictures when fully assembled.

You should be fine. I have done it with a basket, and I have seen other Porsche cars do it. 911's and Caymans.

My wheels + tire combo weight 40 lbs for front, and 45lbs for rears. Total of 170 lbs, just at the limit. Just make sure no speeding !

What classifies speeding?

Prolly around 180# but I'll weigh everything and report back to you. I rolled the dice and did 80+ mph for a good portion of the commute home last night. I could view the four bolts that secured the wheels through my sun roof with my sun roof open and my rear view mirror. No problems.

Please post up some detailed pics too.

Like that the wheels lay down (less wind resistance).

I guess my sunroof will be useful after all

TIA

I am sure Porsche suggest 165lbs but it should be ok with a few lbs over. Cool Picture
