This looks like the one in your pic? Can you just use any mineral oil or do you have to use specific smoke test fluid?
Going to add it to my shopping cart now.
Thanks!
yep that’s it. I get the mineral oil on Amazon too labeled as being for a smoke machine but it’s all the same stuff. You’ll want to get a cone too. I set my compressor around 7 psi and that seems to be the sweet spot for a nice stream of smoke.
Trust me I thought about it; all the aftermarket heat/thermal solutions actually. At the end of the day, the cost difference was minimal and I DEFINITELY wouldn't have been able to cut something this nice.

Bro, put that regulator back on your bbq grill. Hahah
That is beautifully made - the tube should make a little disturbance to the air flow, as you have designed for?
Yeah I had to scrap the hard pipe design. There is just not enough space to install a one piece pipe on either side. It's a compromise and I'll live with it.
The EVOMS hard piping is 70mm OD with a 5mm wall so 76mm ID hose is a 27% increase in diameter. If I get bored (and I probably will) I'll model the ID profile of the wire coil and run it through CFD. Regardless I'm going to run the hose setup.
A little turbulence in the intake is not a bad thing.
That pipe looks a little more skookum than the Marksi one I have.
I think it's the best hose available for the application. The wire coil is wrapped and glued to the outer layer. The coil spacing is much closer than what you see on other hose product so it is very flexible and able to make tight bend radii. I tried the silicone/fabric lined hose that is most widely used for ducting in automotive/aircraft applications and it's just not as flexible and the ID distorts quite a bit.
That being said, I had to order 10 meters of it and imported from the UK (it's not sold here in the US). I think it's the same hose FVD uses in their intake kit but cannot say for certain.
Amazing to see how clean everything is! The engine, the compartment and underside of the car! I am sure it is better than new ;-) Fantastic job Paopao!
