Good luck.
He's not going to sync the trans, he knows a guy who had the computer to do it and they are gonna tow it to him if need be.

And in fairness, the rear suspension had to be dissambled to remove the trans. It's a cluster**** underneath that car.

Also, the way I see it, every day he leaves my car on 1 of his 2 lifts he losing business on quick oil changes and what not.

.
Not true, you don't need to disassemble suspension to remove tranny. It's a cluster down there because the guy doesn't know what he's doing.

It will be interesting to see if he'll pull through with his original estimates, or if you will be posting in 2weeks on how you still don't have your car back and the trann still doesn't work because he can't get it sync'd.

Best of luck.

I wouldn't want this guy touching any of my cars.

I've been following this thread with a mix of awe and disbelief.

I must say that I agree with all of those suggesting you get the car out of that shop pronto. While he may know trannies he surely doesn't know Porsches.

On the top shelf is everything needed to remove the manual tranny from a C4. Since you have a tip you have a few extra connectors and hoses but you will note there are NO suspension pieces on that shelf.

Parts removed

The tranny

The hole were the tranny goes.

Hey Krazy K, what's the status on your nice 996 cab? Have they started installing the Tranny?

Hey man all the best - Sounds like you'll be driving soon.

I think you made a great decision - What a great thing when fellow members help one another out. Kalashnikov was really giving and amazing someone would offer a gift like that!
Looking forward to hearing back when you are back on the road!

Yea, I echo Groovzilla's comments, we're all rooting for you man. We're also hoping you'll post some pictures of the car once it's back on the road. I took my '03 cab out tonight after work, and I'll have to say that driving a 996 cab with the top down is the best form of therapy. ha!

Looks like it's going to be tomorrow, not today. Thursday was the original quote, they just misspoke yesterday when I called them for an update. Lol

Thanks everybody! There will definitely be pictures once I have the car back. I'm really hoping to have it by next Thursday. Based on my work schedule that would be the next day I'd be able to make it down there. Unless they had it finished Monday morning of which I'm not holding my breath haha

Transmission came in around 1pm EST. They should have it ready by Monday. If not then I'll pick it up the following Thursday which will be my next day off. I'll keep everyone updated.

Just received a call that my 996 is ready to be picked up! I'll be able to pick it up first thing Monday morning!

They did have to synchronize the gears but they were able to do it using a colleague's computer.
