C4S for under $21K. Six month warranty for those with IMS neuroses.

If it's the dealer I think to say "high end" is a stretch is itself a stretch...

It does sound very Trumpish to me too but in my experience most of shops that cater to latino's don't really do a good job of paying attention to the fine details that a car like this deserves sometimes.

Majority of these dealerships are not in wealthy neighborhoods and those demographic people are generally looking for the cheapest price they can find and not necessarily the best quality. Ever look at some of these cars at these lots before? I wouldn't be surprised if that 996 has 4 different brands of tires on there of varying tread depth.

Yes it sounds like a huge generalization and stereotype but it is what it is.

BTW, majority of my friends are latino's and I'm also a minority so I'm far from being like Trump. Ask any of my latino homeys and they'll say the same thing. lol

And I don't think anybody posted this 99 with 90K miles....lots of mods, but probably not for most of us.

And here was the last 99 from Chicago....76K miles, $14.9K. Doc will like all of these cars with the four spoke steering wheels.

four spokes or DIE!

Not a fan of black/silver/gray but otherwise looks like a good deal. Lot of car for the money.

Nice set of 99s at reasonable prices. We need more like this in the New England market. Most here are asking high teens.

I am very new at all of this, so your expert opinions on these two 911s would be fantastic. Thanks y'all!

The 99 feels about 2-3k high to me, maybe even more. Other than the wheels, CD player, and leather seats I'm not seeing any options jump out at me. That is about as base of a car as you can find. It looks good in the pics, but that is also clearly a dealer that knows how to clean a car up and get the best pictures.

The 01 seems like a more appropriate price as it has the Xenon lights, more leather, and the 3 spoke wheel that most people like over the 4 spoke in that 99 (I like the 4 spoke myself). The color of the seats/armrests/airbag covers/steering wheel are bugging me though. There are effectively two colors in that car (and not in the deviating color option sort of way) and while I'm not familiar with the light colored interiors, that just doesn't look right to me.

There is also a larger gap between the frunk and bumper on the 01 which indicates that the skin was off and not put back on quite right. It could just be that it was off to clean the radiators or something else mundane, or it could have been off due to an accident. Just something that should be looked at closely by someone that knows the 996.

Personally I would save my money and get the more affordable Boxster if you are looking for a mk1('99-'01) convertible as most will think it's a Boxster anyways. That way you don't have to correct someone everytime they refer to it as a Boxster.

I'm honestly not looking for tons of options and super fancy. This will be my DD, so I am more concerned with a competitive price and reliability about all. The only mods I could see myself doing are possibly a change to a 3-spoke wheel and the sound system for sure, but I have done car audio work before, so that's not a huge deal. Do you think I could negotiate it down to 16k-17k, using the potential need for a new clutch, RMS, and IMS since I didn't see any mention of those having been done?

Also why is this one so cheap? I am a big fan of getting a color other than black or gray and I like the tan interior, but this feels off price-wise.

Buy the 2001. It's red. You'll thank me later.

I would love to go that route (I am coming from a Miata so I love that feel), but I really need a car with four seats. That is one of the main reasons I am looking to upgrade, but I still want the convertible sporty feel.
