Yeah it's pretty different. 986 doesn't actually have a separate trim piece surrounding the hazard switch. The switch itself is larger and asymmetrical to cover up the binnacle screw location.

I do have a 986 binnacle (instrument cluster surround) in my garage to work from. Hopefully have it available within a couple months.

I'll look forward to this also. Just ordered my 996 version since I did the GT3 console delete. Jury's out on whether the missus will let me pull the console from (what has now become) HER 986.

Hey Yaz, I've had the mount installed for like 6 weeks. It is a massive upgrade to the car. I'm using the ram mount with the little arm and ball, I recommend to anyone looking into this.

The more important question is, when are you going to engineer a usable cup holder? I have the ultimate cupholder on the passenger side and it just doesn't cut the mustard.

You mean something like this? It uses the rubber insert from my 4Runner. Still need to make a locking mechanism to keep the lid up.

Something like that would worn I guess. Need something that would hold up to a tumbler.

That along with the ultimate cup holder on the floor is a decent way to get 2 cup holders.

the ultimate cup holder just flops around all over the place for me. The kids knock it around.

there’s just really no other place for decent cupholders, which is a problem in this day and age

Finally put in the nylon version and fed the USB cable through the dash. We've had some days at 115C so I think I'll be needing this higher temp version.

Yaz was also good enough to craft a custom box for the power supply and mating connector to the orphaned cell phone connector in the center console. Very cool! With this connector, I also ran an unswitched power wire to my sub woofer amp in the back. It's really nice to have clean wiring.

Here is what I had done. Pretty kludgy.

Thanks Yaz!

Do you have a link for the USB connector?

I'll have the whole USB module/connector setup on my site soon. @wdb also got an early release. Not sure if he's installed it yet.

Glad to hear this! I also have a powered sub to install and with this innovation it’s also worthwhile to thread a power cord through the dash. I just have to remove the switch power connector from my cart!

Just keep in mind that the telephone wiring is on a circuit rated for 7.5 amps. Don't recall off hand what else is on the circuit. I'll take a look at the wiring diagrams.

I'll be in for the Plug-N-Play USB set-up when done.. Thanks for creating these handy upgrades for us !! I know it is a labor of love and very little monetary gain in doing so..

In all honesty, it is a labor of love, but the primary justification is so the wife will never ask me to sell the car.
