I've always wanted to get something like this and this looks great. I've love to pair this with the USB connector that goes to the telephone connector.

A few questions:
-What mount is good for an iphone 12 mini? Mine usually lives inside a Speck case?
-What happens with the USB connector when you have a GT3 console delete?
- Are you guys using the USB connector tucked behind the stereo/hvac or are you doing something else?
-Has anyone use the USB connector on a blank spot to the left or right of the stereo/ hvac stuff?

I just recently purchased a new to me 1999 Boxster and have been contemplating on the best possible phone mount (good location, durable and strong phone holding).
Will contact you soon, once I decide on the phone mount option. I'm guessing The quad lock option is probably the best as far as not falling off.
No YouTube video for the time being. Actually prefer the slower pace of orders coming in currently. Pretty short on time between family life and my own car (and a larger project I plan to reveal sometime soon).

So this mount won't work for the Boxster (unless you plan to swap in a 996 instrument cluster and binnacle). There's a few small differences with the hazard switch/trim that make a completely different design necessary. With some of the other mount options out there already, I've put a Boxster version on the back burner.

ESR Halolock ESR Halolock
has been the most popular Magsafe mount. That's what I'm using in both of my vehicles.

The USB module/connector is slim enough and has enough cable length it can really sit anywhere behind the dash (with or with the GT3 delete).

I did make a USB-C PD charging port in a switch blank for my own car (edit: added pic). Not currently offering that on the website because it was too much work getting it to look OEM.

Holy smokes. Just found this thread after being aggravated with my renn mount. I’ll be placing an order for a halolock mount. Great job!

Hey everyone, a quick update on my purchase. I purchased the Quad Lock version. This mount is awesome. I absolutely love it. It holds the phone in the perfect spot (for me) and it's solid. No vibrations whatsoever so the screen is easy to see. Only if you turn on the video camera will you notice the image is moving around because the floating lens in the iPhone is moving around, so you can't use it as a dash cam. However, I have an iPhone XS so maybe that happens to me because it's an older model.

I tested it on a 2.5 hour drive at highway speeds and zero issues.

I purchased the mount, along with the switched power module. I also purchased a
right angle usb-c to usb-c cable from Amazon right angle usb-c to usb-c cable from Amazon
to keep it looking as tight as possible.

Finally, I painted it to match my interior with Color Bond interior paint as recommended by @Capt. Obvious in post 73 of this thread. The color match is spot on.

Overall, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Props to @yaz996 for creating this great product. Below are some pics. If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer.

Oh my gosh, I just placed an order for my 2002 Boxster S, for some reason I did not realize this was for a 996 only. I sent an order cancellation request through your website. My apologies.

Does something similar exist for the 997? Looking for a minimalist 17mm ball joint for mounting my ESR HaloLock in sight.

Not currently. My 997 access is limited to visits to see my parents on the other side of the country, so I haven't had a chance to figure out if its even doable.

Default Cable routing option

While waiting for my hazard mount, I took off the instrument cluster to make it easier to route the cable. Here's what I did since my cable is pretty robust and has a 90º usb-c connector. I made the small rectangular hole that is just above the hazard socket a little longer towards the front. Enough to be able to have the cable exit the binnacle just in front of the socket and also large enough to get the cable end through.

I enlarged the hole by the socket clip.

Socket fits and cable comes out next to the hazard socket harness.

I put the instrument cluster back on while routing the other end of the cable along the hazard harness and into the space behind the HVAC unit, ready for the phone plug to cable usb-a connector.

I am expecting the hazard mount and harness to be in today's mail.

Default Cable routing option II

Once I installed the instrument cluster back, I realized the units had shifted to metric (kph, Km). I got my owners manual out and looked up how to set it back to miles and mph. To do that, though, I had to turn the ignition on and I now have no oil level check, washer fluid level, oil pressure, fuel level, outside temp, and coolant temp. Seems like something is not connected, but before I tear into it all again to check connections...is there something I'm overlooking? Like maybe I need to drive the car around a bit so the sensors have something to sense? Wishful thinking, I suppose. Anybody else have this issue?

It sounds like you removed/loosened one of the connectors. Many of those functions are on the same connector.

Make sure the blue green and white connectors are seated fully and the clips are snapped which hold them tight into the back of the instrument cluster! Everything should work fine without starting or driving the car around so I'm sure one of those is not tight!

I ran the wire last night and drilled a hole too... That was probably the hardest part, everything else was a breeze.

Great part
