Best advice u ever got was to just drive the car as hard as u want not as had as it can be driven. Spending the day learning the track will pay dividens for the next event.
Yes that’s my mentality. Learn more about the car, learn the track, learn some basics. This is a long journey and I know where I want to be eventually, and I am in no rush. I almost want to pick up another, cheaper car when budget allows, to dedicate to this sport. I’m not willing to write off my dream car, or pay for a rebuild just yet.
Good to see you out there giving it Hell and having fun!!
To me, your car is better than a "real GT3 "...
you built this thing, I wish I was half as good as you as a wrench. Anyway my mechanic does most for my p car. All the way back to 2013 my biggest mechanical achievement was being able to adjust valves on
80s BMW 3.5 straight sixes. Also tunning my shark 🦈 M635CSI individual throttles that until 15). Glad 😀 you are back on the track and had a hell of a time.
So after 3 brutal days at vir the car did very well. On my post track check out i noticed some fluid in the drivers front well. I thought it was brake fluid but it turns out ps fluid. My brand new, reman, steering rack was pouring fluid out the boot. So not only did it take 14 days to deliver an "in stock" item which was 3 days late it sucks. I already contacted them for a return label and a full refund.
So i swapped in my 200k mile rack and out came the strings for the 3rd time im a couple weeks. Now off to enjoy my labor day.
Always do a full inspection when tracking a car Some of what was in the boot Strings.... again. But it is getting easier to get it dialed in
Well done sir, well done. I am heading to the Glen in just a few days! One of my early-retirement gigs is with TSL (Timing Solutions Limited) and we do the timing and scoring and telemetry systems for the SROMA World Challenge series. They have an event there Sept 17-19. I raced a Swift DB2 for 13 years before the girls went to college, and at some point, I will get back on the track to have some fun. Work to do before I would feel good doing this to my C4S. Heading to Sebring for an event, a track I have never been to so will be fun to see that historic venue. However, I get to do laps at all the courses we have events in because every morning, at least an hour before cars on track, I am doing laps to test all our systems and make sure we are ready for the day. Next year at Sonoma, I am going to drive from Boise to the track, and my C4S will be the "test car". Right now, my Lexus 450h has been on several tracks and is just not the kind of thing you can flog around.
Nice. My wife did the fuel spill plans for Sunoco and visited a ton of tracks but she had no inerest in racing. Its funny i tell her where im going and she lets me know where to go to diner.
Sebring is a fun track. We r in turn 5 every year for the imsa race. One day ill get in that track with my car.
Man is it hot at vir. So far motor dont give an f . Still fighting precat o2 signal issues on both banks but the cars default "failsafe" maps are doing there job... i think?
In prep for this weekend i went through the suspension 100% and everything i did was fine. Scaled the car to check the shops corner balance and they suck. He is getting it back to get right. So swapped the front tires out to another set to because i was getting so off throtle darting. Newer tires feel much better.
Is that 3462 weight with you in the car?
also maybe I missed it, did you swap to throttle by wire?
My car was a 2000 so it was already throttle by wire. The y2k gas pedel assembly and plug were the same as the gt3 but i swapped the gt3 assembly in just in case there was something different about it. Part numbers were off on the last 2 digits but they be just revisions.
I finally got the car on an alignment rack. I was deff off on the strings but it wasnt that bad. First pic is the first attempt but the eccentric bolt slipped during the test drive. Second pic is the final numbers. Very race car.

Had mine checked the other day and have similar numbers except not as much rear camber.
Front 3.1 and -.15 toe
rear 2.7 and .35 toe
The f&r toe was the biggest issue you seemed to have.
Will you get a chance to get it on the track this season?

I’m headed to summit in a week.
Yea im hoping for some more speed on the straights. I have one more day on Thunderbolt at njmp on 11/8. The weather looks good so far and MoE still has spots available.
I also bought some gmg gt3 sways and hope to get them installed before i go. Should really help with the tail whip i get exiting the octopus.
I'm envious of you guys, track season is closed for me. This is the busy part of the year at work and it's cold outside. Now the maintenance season starts.

Eibach sways made a nice difference in feel to me for just casual use, so I could imagine you’ll be really happy with upgraded GMG sways on the track.
A quick update in sime winter mods. I tried to jnstall the gmg sways last season but the rear did not fit so i just got around to figuring it out.
I purchased new rennline motor mounts and gt3 bar to make sure i didnt have an install issue with my drivetrain swap and what i found was even the stock gt3 bar did not fit properly. So i loosened all the trans mount and motor bolts and leveraged the motor rearward. The trans mounts are slotted so it was relatively easy to shift the motor back. After that was done the gts bar fit easily but the gmg bar still rubbed the engine case. The factory bar is a tick over 20mm and the gmg is 25mm. So my 2 options were to dent the bar or sand the engjne case. I chose to sand the case as there is plenty of material and it wont compromise strength in that area. I now have about 1.5mm of clearence and im hoping that will be enough with the stiffer rennline motor mounts.
Blue sport inserts. Only takes 30min to swap out if i dont like the feel. Slotted trans mount Close but it fits
Got the new Girodisc rears on with a fresh set of Pagid yellows. The old pads where in the car when i bought so i got about 15 track days and 3k miles + the po usage. The new pads should last all next season. The zimmerman rotors i removed wore down about 50% in one season.
