Prices Keep Drifting Up

Too bad I don't like 997's, there are a crapload for sale. Not so many 996.1's (which are the only 911 I care about, except perhaps for a 964).

Non-Mezger 997’s were almost NEVER raced (big, heavy, bad aero, etc..). So they’re all still on the road.
So many MKI 996 3-pedal couples were converted for racing there is no more accounting for them. They’re definitely not on U.S. roads. Likely dismantled or crushed by now.

I'm in DC and know at least 4 other 996 owners, 2 of which are 40th anniversary owners with me being the 3rd. Heck, I might just organize a drive by parade of sorts You're not alone! There is also a red 996 cab that is street parked in Georgetown that I see every other day!

996.1 with the 3.4L is perfect. Minimal bore scoring issues, dual row IMSB, better headlight design over the .2 (subjective), cable throttle, cable'd frunk/deck releases (saved me a couple times).

I don’t get why some folks hate on specific 911s, such as a 997 or 991, or even other Porsche models (Cayenne or 944, 968) for that matter. Isn’t that the same double standard we 996 owners don’t like in the first place?
The 997 is a 911. It’s amazing by default. The difference between a 996.2 and a 997.1 isn’t so great anyway.
A true Porsche fan likes them ALL. Long live one of the winningest car manufacturer in auto racing history, and top engineering company in the world.

I recall back in my FD days, someone was able to pull the number of cars that were actively registered in the US, and that number was a bit less than half of what had been delivered. Has anyone done the same with the 996? That's the closest you'll get to a real attrition rate.
