That's pretty specific, I thought we were discussing headlights. Anyway, yeah darn mean (good) looking car IMHO (with or without the taco rear wing)...
Perhaps because I instinctively associate the GT1 headlights? But this reads "racecar" to me. The round headlights all read "VW Beetle" to me. Call me crazy

bdron, I am not saying I don’t find the looks of a 996 attractive, I own one lol. What I am saying is that the 996 is able to encompass a multitude of “personalities” ranging from the base non-aero which to me is the least “aggressive” styling suitable for anyone who wants to own a small sports car while still being somewhat reserved, to the Aerokit cars which look like they belong on track while still not looking like they are trying too hard or looking gaudy.
that being said you are at 1,995 posts…I have a feeling with the amount of passion you have for the 996, your next post may be your last!
That Silver .1 GT3 front end just looks so freaking nice to me. I just happen to really like the .2 and will agree it's not for everyone but look at the cars comparatively at the time.
... Add wheel spacers with 18 inch rims and all of a sudden they become meaty. Lower them a bit and they take on a different more aggressive look. Add a different set of wheels and aero and they look even more muscular.
Agree on the wheels spacers. I think Porsche made a fairly major aesthetic mistake by having the wheels so far inset from the factory. I didn't realize how much that was part of what I didn't like about the 996 body until I put 15mm spacers all around. I'm an originality guy, so took me a while to convince myself to do the spacers, but it takes 5 seconds to reverse and it looks much better. Still, candidly speaking, the 996 isn't my favorite 911 body style, but I absolutely love the car more than any other 911 model. Well, except for the late 60's/early 70's 911E, but you can only take vintage cars in smaller doses, so if I had to pick one 911, it would be the 996.
