I once junked a mk4 golf GLS. I sold it to Obama during cash for clunkers for $1500. The threading had come off the oil pan and the labor to replace the oil pan totaled the car which had a blue book value around $2-3k at the time. There were people at the junk yard hanging around and one made me an offer on it. But I didn't want it to be a burden on him. Those cars were truly, truly burdens. And now they go for $15k on BaT!
Seems that there is presently no supply pipeline of 996 on BAT or PCar beyond a few cars. Have all of the "quick buck" transaction folks sold their cars. If so, we have a supply/demand imbalance. This could change at any time, but will be interesting if it doesn't.
I know of a friends 2002 with 24,000 miles fixing to go on bat. He bought a 95 993 so that’s why this car is available, He wanted me to buy it I just don’t like red. Anyway black interior, my friend is so picky you can eat on the engine compartment of this car. He dry iced cleaned the bottom, $1200 . Ceramic coated, I always told him since I met him that his car was supposed to be entered in the Concourse de elegance shows. Pm me If you want to talk to the owner. We are at my mechanics tomorrow trying to finish his 993. I bought the soul headers from him. I would have bought this car if it was black silver, yellow, I would have bought it in a second. Tomorrow’ chow, meat and motors ribs.
I’m doing rib sampler tomorrow at my mechanic while work is going on the 993. One rack of the St. Louis ribs will be dry using my brisket rub, the other one will have one of my wild bbq sauces.
