As a owner of a Tesla model 3 (250 range) and a 996,, I'm not a Tesla fanboy, I'm a fan of really good performance, no maintenance and basically no fuel bill,, 40 a month for a 200 mile a week commute.. Level 2 in the garage to charge the Tesla and a Chevy Spark EV my daughters drive around.. VERY convenient.. Supercharging only when I need it, the Tesla charges from dead to 250 miles in about 25 minutes, barely enough time to get a coffee and a snack.
The 996 is for the nice days, taking the long/back way home. The Tesla is the $40K toaster with the gross carbon footprint of the Exxon Valdez unless you ignore the full picture of the manufacturing overhead.. (I've heard 20 tons of ore to get 1oz of Lithium... ) Something has to power all that mining equipment..
I like it for the way it serves me .. don't give a flying hoot about the green bit.. The bit of research I've done says we will run out of lithium before oil.. Especially now that they make gasoline and oil out of Natural Gas..
Both cars are fast, both drive well, the Porsche is for fun the Tesla is a commuter toaster for beating back and forth to work, comfortable, fast, quiet, relaxing..
The Tesla is a great freeway traffic car, nimble and jumps in to traffic. I've gotten really used to the adaptive cruise control and semi-auto drive, makes it easy to open a bag of chips and a soda.. LOL.. But the feel of the 911 on a road trip is way better..
Most that haven't lived with an EV are not likely to really, get it.. I hear all kinds of armchair critiques about electric cars.. My first one was a Honda fit EV, only did it because I picked it up for too cheap to resist, after the lease ran out we decided we liked having an ev for the daughters and they prefer the electric.. They both drove gas cars too...
We have gotten used to the blend..![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
2003 996/1994 Jeep Wrangler with 5.3 AL V8/Tesla Model 3/Chevy Spark.. vehicle for each season..

I am both sad and incredibly grateful. I sold my first, but certainly not my last, 911 this afternoon.

Very impressive number
I’m even more convinced that the market has really changed in the six months since I purchased my 996

If this trend continues, people who bought in the last few years are probably going to look like geniuses to other car enthusiasts.

I went to an "exotic" car meet this morning, amazing turnout, many, many more Porsches than I expected to see, 40+. 996 were well represented including a GT3, several turbos, my lowly 4s, and a black, sub 20k mile mk.1 that looked showroom new inside and out. After walking around and seeing all the amazing Porsches and non Porsches I realized that even with the dramatic increases we are seeing with 996 models, they are still a bargain given the performance & style. I don't think i could have bought any other car on display today for what i paid for my 4s 2 years ago. PLUS, i've gotten 32,000 miles of smiles!!!! When I see a $120k - $!50k car I always wonder "can this car really be 4x-5x more fun than my car?" I hope not.

wow @moosetaco you certainly brought the bacon home. That’s an outstanding outcome. ![rockon](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/rockon.gif)
I was following as I have a somewhat similar car. It’s nice to see higher miles don’t get penalised.

This auction will be a good data point for higher mileage cars. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/K1Z...-carrera-coupe
With 4 days left and already pushing $22k, I wouldn't be surprised if this ended close to $30k.
